They are our allies. BEIRUT, Lebanon - Hezbollah guerrillas clashed with Israeli troops on the Lebanese side of the border for the second consecutive day Thursday, while Israeli warplanes renewed airstrikes against Lebanon in a ninth day of fighting. ADVERTISEMENT The USS Nashville anchored off the coast of Lebanon to evacuate some 1,200 Americans fleeing the fighting. Hundreds of people gathered on the beach just north of Beirut to board a landing craft that would ferry the passengers to the Navy ship. The luxury cruise liner Orient Queen arrived in Cyprus early Thursday with about 900 Americans aboard, completing the first trip in a massive operation to evacuate thousands of U.S. citizens. Hezbollah said in a statement that its guerrillas foiled a new Israeli attempt to stage a ground attack and destroyed two Israeli tanks as they tried to enter the Lebanese border village of Maroun al-Ras early Thursday. The Israeli army said three Israeli soldiers were wounded in two separate clashes Thursday, but it wasn't immediately clear if either of those were at Maroun al-Ras, and the army didn't have an immediate comment on the claim of the two destroyed tanks. Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora said in an interview published Thursday that Hezbollah has created a "state within a state" in Lebanon and must be disarmed. Saniora told Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera that the Shiite militia has been doing the bidding of Syria and Iran and that it can only be disarmed with the help of the international community and once a cease-fire has been achieved in the current Middle East fighting. On Wednesday, Israeli troops clashed with Hezbollah guerrillas on the Lebanese side of the border, near the coastal border town of Naqoura, after they crossed the border before dawn to look for guerrilla tunnels and weapons. The Israeli army said two soldiers had been killed and nine wounded in that fighting, while Hezbollah said one guerrilla was killed. Israeli warplanes on Wednesday flattened houses and buildings, including one thought to hold Hezbollah's top leaders. The attempt to wipe out the leadership was the most dramatic action on a day that saw the Lebanese prime minister say about 300 people in his country had died in the eight-day offensive. Reports of the death toll in Wednesday's violence ranged as high at 70, which would make it the single deadliest day since the fighting began. Voice of Lebanon state radio reported 70 dead, while other Lebanese media gave figures ranging from 57 to 64. No further breakdowns were provided. U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour criticized the growing death toll, saying the indiscriminate shelling of cities and of nearby military sites was invariably resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians. "International law demands accountability," Arbour said in Geneva. "The scale of the killings in the region, and their predictability, could engage the personal criminal responsibility of those involved, particularly those in a position of command and control." Hezbollah fired rockets into the Israeli Arab town of Nazareth, where Jesus is said to have spent his boyhood, killing two Arab brothers, ages 3 and 9, as they played outdoors. Israel broadcast warnings into south Lebanon telling civilians to leave the region, a possible prelude to a larger Israeli ground operation. Israel has mainly limited itself to attacks from the air and sea in its offensive that was launched after Hezbollah launched a July 12 cross-border attack on an Israeli military patrol and captured two soldiers. It had been reluctant to send in ground troops because Hezbollah is far more familiar with the terrain and because of memories of Israel's ill-fated 18-year occupation of south Lebanon that ended in 2000. Israeli warplanes also launched new airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold, shortly after daybreak Thursday, according to witnesses and Hezbollah's al-Manar TV. The reported attack on the Bir al-Abed neighborhood followed a relatively quiet night in the capital after the Wednesday evening attack by Israeli warplanes on what the military believed was a bunker used by senior Hezbollah leaders. The Israeli military said that aircraft dropped 23 tons of explosives on the target in the Bourj al-Barajneh neighborhood of Beirut between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Soon after, Hezbollah issued a statement saying "no Hezbollah leaders or elements were killed in the strike," but a building under construction to be a mosque was hit. Interviewed on CNN early Thursday, Israel's U.N. ambassador, Dan Gillerman, said Israel would not issue a statement about the attack until it is sure of all the facts. But he added, "I can assure you that we know exactly what we hit. ... This was no religious site. This was indeed the headquarters of the Hezbollah leadership." Hezbollah has a headquarters compound in Bourj al-Barajneh that is off limits to the Lebanese police and army, so security officials could not confirm the strike. Hezbollah media made no immediate mention of any attack. Israel has said that one of the objects of its offensive in Lebanon is to eliminate Hezbollah leaders. Lebanon's embattled Prime Minister Fuad Saniora said 300 people had been killed in his country as fighting entered its second week. Saniora issued an urgent appeal Wednesday for a cease-fire, saying his country "has been torn to shreds" by the devastating Israeli military offensive. He demanded compensation from Israel for "barbaric destruction" and "immeasurable loss." Saniora, whose weak government has been unable to fulfill a U.N. directive to disarm Hezbollah and put its army along the border with Israel, pointedly criticized the U.S. position that Israel acts in self-defense. "Is this what the international community calls self-defense?" a stern-looking Saniora asked a meeting of foreign diplomats, including U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman. "Is this the price we pay for aspiring to build our democratic institutions?" The Lebanese leader's appeal came as international pressure mounted on Israel and the United States to agree to a cease-fire. The rising death toll and scope of the destruction deepened a rift between the U.S. and Europe, and humanitarian agencies were sounding the alarm over a pending catastrophe with a half million people displaced in Lebanon. Thousands of foreigners fled in one of the largest evacuation operations since World War II. The Bush administration is giving Israel a tacit green light to take the time it needs to neutralize Hezbollah, but the Europeans fear mounting civilian casualties will play into the hands of militants and weaken Lebanon's democratically elected government. Exhausted, drawn and shaken, the Americans — many of them of Lebanese origin — stood in line at a processing center on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, dragging their luggage and their children as they waited to be told where they would sleep and when they might leave. "This war is unfair. It's unfair if you see buildings fall and there are people inside," said Mona Kharbouche, a visibly upset mother of two who said she had left behind her mother, two sisters and a brother. "We have to talk first (before fighting). We can't do this." Many worried about their loved ones who had stayed in Lebanon. "I've got family. Parents that are stuck without food, no water, no one can get there," said Wajiha Chahine. "Nobody can help." ____ Associated Press reporter Maria Sanminiatelli contributed to this report from Larnaca, Cyprus.

Remember that a resolution passed by one chamber (House or Senate) or even by both chambers is essentially nothing more than a press release. A non-binding resolution is no force or effect as a matter of law. And binding resolutions can only affect the inner workings of the chamber that passes them. Congress has passed many hundreds of non-binding resolutions. It's nothing more than a press release that 220 people happen to agree with.

Are there volunteer security jobs in Israel for non-citizens

Are there volunteer security jobs in Israel for non-citizens?
Is there a way for a non-Israeli citizen (though I have the right to make aliyah due to my grandparent) to volunteer for a security duty in Israel for a limited amount of time? I am a 32 yr old male in good physical shape who works as a security professional in my own country (Croatia). The volunteer security service would accomplish several objectives for me: 1. I would gain security experience in a place where people have real-world knowledge of it; 2. I would do a service to support Israel as a nation; 3. I would acquaint myself better with the way Israel works (I've been to Israel on my own this year and have some idea) to help me decide if I should go for the citizenship. Any advice will be appreciated; thanks in advance.

To answer you, there was a diet pill named Reductil israel, but I heard it has been taken off the mkt, because of the side effects. Please do not start taking any diet pills they are unhealthy and in the long run, you will put back the weight plus more.Losing 25 pounds in 1 month is extremely un healthy, (Plus un heard of, unless you starve yourself)you shouldn't lose more then 10pounds a month. The best way to lose the weight is to exercise and eat plenty of fruit and veg (which I'm sure you already know)Trust me on this, I am forever dieting and have found that the best way to lose the weight and keep it off is by cutting down the carbohydrates and fats.Eat lots of veg and protein and drink plenty of water. Also try and avoid eating out, eat lots of small meals a day good luck

I would like to work for the CIA, majoring in Jewish Studies, International Relations. Good languages

I would like to work for the CIA, majoring in Jewish Studies, International Relations. Good languages? ?
If I go on this track (I am rethinking pre-med) I would continue with Hebrew and study abroad in either a city in Lithuania or Prague. I would likely learn Czech. Is Hebrew and Czech worthless languages? So many people are learning Arabic it just isn't rare anymore. I think Hebrew would stand out, and Czech would be a very rare language to know. I'd also take up to advanced German, likely. I'm counting on my "Jewish Studies major" working alongside my "International Relations" major, to possibly make me a candidate for work concerning Israel. What do you all think? The only more useful language that I can learn abroad is Russian, but there are many people that speak native Russian, so it isn't very helpful.

Langley is less concerned about your major than about your skills, consistency in thoughts and behaviors, and of course, the fewer skeletons in your closet the better. Of course, if you are recruited by them, you stand a better chance.... Languages are good........ the application is like 30 pages long.....They have a very long series of tests - psych profiling mostly....... if anyone in your family ever got busted, voted commie, or ithey want to know about it..... there are reasons of course, but dont expect any answers. It isnt all like we see on TV etc: very few do the fun stuff........ mostly paper pushers, computer data analysts....... pay isnt all that good to start either. BUT if you really want it, why not talk to their recruiters? you can get better info from them, but do remember that they really dont ever say much..... Also, you can never talk about anything to anyone ever...... like being in witness protection.......

It would be very hard to get a visa to the USA as a caregiver, Her best bet would be as a Nurse & even that is slow & hard. Have her go to an employment agent in the Philippines for help in getting her visa. If you are here maybe you can go for her to find the info.

If Ariel Sharon declared that the State of Israel is run by Judeo Nazis why did the US give away 2 trillion

If Ariel Sharon declared that the State of Israel is run by Judeo Nazis why did the US give away 2 trillion?
Please explain to me why america supports ethnic cleansing, 1- Israel 2-Judaism 3-State of Israel by Zionists who neither believe in G-d or are religious! Read this and explain! Based on these 2 comments by Israeli leaders i know who started the gaza incidents since the 1940s, as well as sinking a US navy ship and even claiming the life of JFK, TREASON or heretics? ARIEL SHARON: "Leibowitz is right, we are Judeo-Nazis, and why not? "Even today I am willing to volunteer to do the dirty work for Israel, to kill as many Arabs as necessary, to deport them, to expel and burn them, to have everyone hate us, to pull the rug from underneath the feet of the Diaspora Jews, so that they will be forced to run to us crying. Even if it means blowing up one or two synagogues here and there, I don't care. Ben-Gurion commented on the proposed Peel Commission Partition plan as follows in 1937: "We must EXPEL ARABS and take their places .... and, if we have to use force-not to dispossess the Arabs of the Negev and Transjordan, but to guarantee our own right to settle in those places-then we have force at our disposal." (Expulsion Of The Palestinians, p. 66). Note the premeditated plan to ethnically cleanse the Negev and Transjordan which were not allocated to the Jewish State by the Peel Commission,

Becuase your an Idiot is why, if you wouldnt have ask this question the US would have stopped the war by now...so congrats their deaths on your hands way to go idiot!!!!
3 :
Duh, Zionists who created the state suported TERRORISM as a pretext to create a majority in israel though based on those statements by them. Duh, dropping the same weapons on civilians like Sadam Husein is Israel's way of dealing with expanding teh state up till Syria, DUh BTW did the israeli police arrest Sharon yet or is he really living with the Bush family, i no he aint in no COMA, if anything having a hotdog with his heretic friends in Dubai! I also read that the recent prime minister is wanted by the police for corruption, damn, why does the US do this to everyone there, israelis hate americans so much, the best day for them was 9/11 according to Sharon, he said it gave him more reason to carry out what he loves to do, kill!
4 :
A. Your facts are distorted, and not true. B. Therefore the US helps Israel, because Israel is after all fighting terrorists, and not innocent civilians. A thing that benefits the US, as well as the whole Western Democratic world. No other army in the world goes to the lengths Israel does in order to avoid killing civilians. If Israel were "nazi-like", they wouldn't allow Arabs (the israeli-arabs) to live with them in their own country, work and shop in their malls, give them rights, include them in their parliament, allow them to be on all the reality shows such as Big Brother etc... and in many cases win these reality shows... and so on. So in conclusion, Israel is not "nazi-like", get your facts straight.
5 :
Unfortunately for the Americans these Zionists have weasled their way into the highest levels of American politics and the funny thing is most Americans believe everything they say whilst their tax dollars are going towards the strengthening of Israel! (Boycott Starbucks & Marks & Spencer)
6 :
You do realize this will never last on yahoo and googled up riight?, Even though you posted facts roving Israel is run by heretic judeo proclaimed nazis, you will never succeed to convince KKK americans to agree with it, openly, see, they are cowards and losers, why else do they run from Hezballah and shoot at the civilians from F14s in Lebenon, they have to win some how, just like they think they will win God by taking not just gaza but Syria next, Zionism, Judeo nazis like Ariel Sharon said.

Doesn't terror work both sides

Doesn't terror work both sides?
I am against terror violence etc. But when these days everybody talks about Muslim terror, please be aware of this: Wikipedia regarding the establishing of the State of Israel: ...........This is perhaps the only example in modern history where terrorist activity was rewarded with the creation of a new state. I am far away of glorifying terror, but it didn't it work for Israel? Do you also know: that regarding the participation of the Palestine terretories pressure was exerted on some small countries by Zionist sympathizers in the United States? I am feeling with every Israeli who has to suffer, but what was done to the Palestinians BEFORE the Jihad started? Be honest. Where would Israel be without the supporting Israel community in the US? After WWII Ben Gurion had even to negotiate with the Germans to feed his folks. Please share your thoughts edit Mikel: here we go again. How do you know if things written on Wiki are right or not? Or is this sources are not useable regarding Palestinian's subjects? Are you denying the terror done by Jews before Israel got established? Even against the Brits. I won't send my CV but I am not a dummy either. Take care. edit paperback: Not having a recognised body of representatives was a severe handicap for the Palestinain Arabs compared to the Zionists. The Jewish Agency was entitled to diplomatic representation e.g. in Geneva before the League of Nations Permanent Mandates Commission, while the Palestinian Arabs had to be represented by the British. And the Brits did not care. Brits got pressured by the US. Palestinians were just the punching ball of Western Nations. Promises were made and broken. In the Belfour documents Arabs even were not called Arabs. They were just: non Jewish people. I hold the Brits most responsible for the ongoing conflict. First they made promises to the Arabs and then they give up on the pressure received from the US which was under pressure of the Jewish community in the US. Are you still wondering?

Ok - so I guess you didn't want to discuss football. Wikipedia is a nice source, but I only use it when I know what they have is factually correct. Like everything on there and any source for that matter its important to verify it before you cite it. What you will find however on what was done to the Palestinians before (for example the 1987 Intifada) was nothing - it was started by Palestinians out of frustration at the situation and not by poor Israeli behavior. This is why so much is created fictiously through Pallywood. Good Luck!!! edit - so you don't want to discuss football still - ok Here is some discussion of Jewish terrorist acts down pre-1948 on the wikipedia article regarding the Irgun - see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irgun so your argument that its not posted there is rather silly. As to my background I do check various sources for information besides my own knowledge on things prior to posting information - sometime I mention a book I have in my possession, however I find wikipedia is often just an easier website to choose for information to back my statements. There is no perfect source here on the wikipedia and as a person who has posted some information on teachers unions on there I know its full of problems.
4 :
I am not sure if you are saying that terrorism can have advantages, too? I think after some period, the powerful countries become affected and finally sit down with the groups to negotiate. Look at North Korea; now we have recognized the little jerk,(napoleon complex-not dynamite) and he has settled down a bit. Terrorism is about not being counted and stirring up horrific acts to get there. Its a drastic measure until the powerful recognizes the group. Why isn't there someone or a group bringing these terroristic groups into talks so we can see what they want? Are we afraid they will tell more than what we want the media to spread? I am not for these horrific crimes against a fellow man, because I consider crimes such as mugging, robbery, rape, kidnapping, and murder terrorism since its against man-kind. If its it not fixed in my own country of the good ol us of a, then the big bat we hold over smaller countries is not going to be effective either.
5 :
Let's get something very clear: Israel was created because the British - who made promises to BOTH Jews and Arabs - held the mandate and decided that Israel was the right thing to establish. And the UN ratified it. The Balfour Declaration, which paved the way for this, was in 1917 and had nothing to do with any 'terrorism'. Yes, both Arabs and Jews have behaved terribly at times, it would be untruthful to deny this. Both have, presumably fought for what they believed in. But the Jews in Palestine were fighting because the British had FORBIDDEN Jews fleeing Europe to emigrate to Palestine. There were, what, maybe three? acts of Jewish terrorism - not to say that I condone them, I don't. But on the other hand, Islamic terrorism has been perpetrated for decades and has been levelled at countries that have NOTHING to do with Israel. The Jews who were involved in those few terrorist activities were NOT supported by their fellow Jews. In fact, wikipedia, when I last read that page, made it clear that the Haganah and the nascent Israeli government actually opened fire on the Irgun, in order to shut them down. Yet we don't see the Palestinians turning on Hamas and Islamic Jihad, do we? No - they VOTED for Hamas, knowing full well that the Hamas Charter advocates terrorism and CALLS for it. And please can someone explain this to me: The Arab world went beserk and declared war on Israel in 1948 BEFORE anyone lost their homes!!! They rejected the mere IDEA of a Jewish democracy in the middle east! EDIT TO ASKER 'h' - I do agree with you that the British did a lot of damage. Essentially Palestine was a twice promised land - as you say, the British promised it to both the Jews AND the Palestinian Arabs. But that said, it wasn't the fault of the British that five Arab armies attacked Israel within 12 hours of her officially becoming a state. The Arab world, back then, DID reject outright the mere IDEA of a Jewish democratic country in their midst. That was not the fault of Israel! I think we need to look to the future, though, don't you? What's done is done, I would just love to see peace, and to see a peaceful Palestinian state existing alongside Israel, with no more terrorism. EDIT TO answerers who reply below my post: - I guess it must be significant that every single time I state VERIFIABLE FACTS I get accused either of 'lying' or now of 'redefining history'.
6 :
Yes this is a known fact, but as usual the zionists will deny it and try to fool everyone else oh and that liar paperback should stop readining zionist history books and start reading learning real history people lost their homes before the war started, that's why the war started http://youtube.com/watch?v=GM1ruYCS6JY http://youtube.com/watch?v=zg0ql9tA1-I she wants us to believe that the jews came in, gave out flowers and donuts and started chatting with the people already living in the land they were about to steal. so funny.
7 :
Not of religion but an act of cowardice admitting in competency.
8 :
Saying terror worked in that case is a matter of opinion defining what exactly terror is. For starters, no Jewish militia existed before the sudden proliferation of Arab violence towards Jews in the early 20th century. In addition, terror was not the true cause of the Jewish state: the British in 1917 already defined their stated goal as the creation of a Jewish homeland in Israel. That a state would exist was a foregone conclusion, as the rulers of the area had already defined their intent on that regard. All terror could possibly have done was speed up the process. Lastly, the major contributing factor to the creation of Israel was international concience and pressure, and not terror. The UN did not approve the partition plan because they were cowed by terrorism, but because they thought it the right thing to do. There is truth in what you say however: many, if not most, Palestinians believe that terror can bring about their own country. However, this is certainly not the case; in fact, terror prolongs the lack of that state, because Israel will not accept it. In order for a state to come into being, terror would have to stop. Lastly, I would point out that Palestinian terror predates the Six Day War in which Israel took the West Bank and Gaza strip. This means that despite the Palestinians having access to all the lands they now declare should be their country, they still perpetrated terror attacks against Israel. This is in contrast to any Jewish terror, which ceased immediately upon the establishment of a Jewish state. This shows that if there really was Jewish terrorism, its goal was the establishment of a Jewish state. At the same time, Palestinian terrorisms goal has been the destruction of a Jewish state and not the establishment of a Jewish one, as evidenced by prefering to attack Israel rather than found their own state during the 20 years when they had the opportunity.

Where Zionists really behind the holocaust just to create a state out of Israel

Where Zionists really behind the holocaust just to create a state out of Israel?
Whenever i ask about this site from anyone into ZIONISM all i hear is slander and insults instead of facts, while they agree like Hitler with every word Theodore Herzl preached the only half civilized conversation i got was that these Jews who post all the evidence base there beliefs on one little line of the Torah which prohibits a return to Israel until a Messiah will guide all the people there. In other words, there are a few sections in the Torah which state the blessing for the land and anyone willing to embrace it in peace under one god but 25 places in the Torah which lay the condition to the punishments and curses if the covenant is broken, Regardless if your religious or not, that still does not explain why they rejected 6 million jews in camps and only allowed children to fight to take the land and places of the very people who had there arms open for those Holocaust victims, and when you read statements publicly by Zionists for example like Ariel Sharon you see he insisted to blowing up things and using terrorism to create antisemitism to round up jews in Israel, not for a homeland but for a state to control the world. So tell me what think of all this and please post facts instead of acting like hypocrites who cowardly can not bare the truth, prove to me this is wrong because if it is true there is no doubt we are headed for a 3rd world war and iam 99 percent sure ISrael will be taken out first within a day but what i am worried about is the USA ! Read these statements and tell me if they sound like terrorists: Ben-Gurion commented on the proposed Peel Commission Partition plan as follows in 1937: "We must EXPEL ARABS and take their places .... and, if we have to use force-not to dispossess the Arabs of the Negev and Transjordan, but to guarantee our own right to settle in those places-then we have force at our disposal." (Expulsion Of The Palestinians, p. 66). Note the premeditated plan to ethnically cleanse the Negev and Transjordan which were not allocated to the Jewish State by the Peel Commission, Ariel Sharon: "Even today I am willing to volunteer to do the dirty work for Israel, to kill as many Arabs as necessary, to deport them, to expel and burn them, to have everyone hate us, to pull the rug from underneath the feet of the Diaspora Jews, so that they will be forced to run to us crying. Even if it means blowing up one or two synagogues here and there, I don't care. "Leibowitz is right, we are Judeo-Nazis, and why not http://www.jewsagainstzionism.com/antisemitism/holocaust/index.cfm Ok so you go on insulting me the same way Nazis did to who ever asked about this, only thing iam sure of so far is some criminals are behind Israel and not Jews. BTW read the links for yourselves, posted by REAL JEWS, and it was the romans who expelled the jews not muslims who ambraced them over and over, its zionism they are threatened by, Zionists want to destroy the region, they are athiest JEWS.

Marriages in Israel.......

Marriages in Israel.......?
Is it true, like Frau Asher says, that in Israel Orthodox Jews are not permitted to marry Conservative Jews? I mean, that wouldn't happen of course, because an Orthodox Jew wouldn't marry a Reform Jew, but is it true that the Beit Din simply wouldn't allow even a marriage between two Reform Jews? I'm confused!!! Can anyone explain how marriages work in Israel? Frau, I hope you'll forgive me for having mentioned you. So how do Reform people get married in Israel? Are there any Reform synagogues in Israel? Or are they all Orthodox?

All I know is that Israel has no secular marriage; this country does not provide that basic service for some of its citizens. They actually need to leave the country and get married elsewhere. And when rabbis control marriage, they allow or forbid it according to ridiculous, arcane rules. Has your child been born out of wedlock? No marrying inside the country for him.
2 :
Not true. An Orthodox rabbi will not perform a wedding in which the bride or groom is not Jewish, but once the "Jewishness" and single status of both bride and groom are verified, an Orthodox rabbi will be happy to perform the wedding, no matter what beliefs the bride or groom hold. If the bride or groom CONVERTED to Judaism via the conservative or reform movement, and NOT according to Jewish law, then they cannot be considered Jewish, and thus an Orthodox rabbi cannot understandably perform the wedding ceremony. EDIT: There are about 21 reform congregations in Israel, and the one in Ramat-Hasharon is sanctioned by the Israeli government. Many people who do not desire to undergo a religious wedding ceremony go to places like Cyprus, Greece, or Italy, where they offer civil marriages. Many Israeli travel agencies offer such packages: A civil ceremony and a honeymoon. These are very popular among Israelis who are secular and could not care less about religion. The Israeli governments does recognize wedding ceremonies performed in other countries.

um, no, you can get married in israel. in fact, i know orthodox jews who live in america and went to israel just to get married. the fact is, jewish marriage is really just signing a contract, you do not even need the rest if you dont want-- stepping on the cup, breaking the plate, the chuppah, etc. etc. Jews are not obligated to get married in israel.
4 :
I don't know how it's being worked at the moment, but I know the past problems with this were hammered out & it's no longer the oddball issue it used to be. What Orthodox are permitted is only going to matter to Orthodox & within that community & it's a religious question, not a civil one. If you're Orthodox then you'll want to marry someone of like mind, so it's not going to come up. And if your marrying a secular who's joining you in Orthodox -- then how would one evaluate? An important concept is that Israel doesn't work off the Reform, Conservative, Orthodox model. They have religious who care about what the jewish court says, & non-religious or less observant, often called secular. EDIT: Yes there are representatives synoguages of the various branches. I was trying to not be confusing. There it's often not stated that way at all. I tried asking a question on a politics tour & thoroughly side tracked the guide & half the bus by using those terms. It's just confusing...because it is. This all has NOTHING to do with civil marriages in Israel. My secular (non-religious) cousin got married a month ago with no hitches. I think it's that there was a problem for a while getting the religious side of a secular marriages to be recogized, so people went out of the country to Cyprus (a short trip) & then it' could be "imported" in just fine, but that's since changed for a while now. I tried to go to Cyprus & for security reasons you can't get there directly anymore & no one, not even the official Israel Travel branch knew of a way to do what I wanted. =============== I think you may be getting caught up in some internal drama stuff, that's confusing in part because of Jewish style of lots & lots of talk & pushing for change as needed, so it gets attention & sounds very messy in the process. The marriage issues are long since in the past. The conversion questions are recent, but have some basis, & they'll get sorted out too. We use debate as a form of entertainment & problem solving remember... But nothing so horrific is occuring that the community is getting on it at a loud level (NOT hearing much about it NOR distress statements from heads of organizations), so I'm not worried at this point. Just some internal stuff. Mark S had a link for supporting converts in general - I bet that'd be a good place to ask about this.
5 :
yes
6 :
not accurate. an orthodox rabbi will not perform a wedding when the jewishness of one of the partners is in doubt. if someone was born jewish and is conservative/reform/"secular" there's no problem. the problem starts when the person converted through a reform or conservative beith din (rabbinical court). in some cases even people who converted through an orthodox beith din are required to promise to keep a religious observant home. since in israel there are only religious marriages. people who are not "marriagable" will have to go somewhere else and get a civil union certificate or just live as common law partners.
7 :
Kismet is right.
8 :
The specific issue is that conversions performed by Conservative or Reform clergy are not Halachicly acceptable. That being the case, the Israeli Rabbinate, which is Orthodox, will not officiate at a marriage in which one (or both) of the people had converted via Conservative or Reform rabbis. However, if both are Jewish (i.e. born Jewish) or converted under Orthodox auspices, I don't see why they would decline to officiate. There are a few Reform synagogues, from what I have heard. Hebrew Union College (Reform seminary) has a branch in Jerusalem.
9 :
The Rabbinate does perform the marriage ceremony. Therefore, inter-religious marriage is not allowed. Marrying between Orthodox and non-Orthodox Jews shouldn't pose a problem, unless if one of the parties became Jewish through a non-Othrodox conversion. If that is the case, the conversion is not recognized by the Orthodox community and therefore the Rabbinate (which is a beit din in Orthodox Judaism in Israel) will consider that as an inter-religious marriage. There are three routes to go then: 1) go seperate ways, 2) the person in question converts to Judaism via Orthodox Judaism, or 3) the Israeli government recognizes marriages perfomed outside of Israel as well.
10 :
All Jews no matter what denomination, in Israel you must marry in a religious wedding because civil wedding arent valid. Then and there. Its very simple and you may have been confused by what Frau said, when it just had to be stated simply. Yes, There are Reform, Conservative and Orthodox Synagogues in Israel. There is a active Conservative movement in Israel. As well as the Reform movement.
11 :
No, that's not true. In Israel, a Jew is allowed to marry a Jew, whether or not either are religious.

So is israel a Racists state

So is israel a Racists state?
Can anyone back these statements up, please do not add your opinions, edit them or claim they where never said: Menachem Begin - Israeli Prime Minister 1977–1983 Our race is the Master Race. We are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves." ARIEL SHARON- "Leibowitz is right, we are Judeo-Nazis, and why not? "Even today I am willing to volunteer to do the dirty work for Israel, Even if it means blowing up one or two synagogues here and there, I don't care. What you lot don't understand is that the dirty work of Zionism is not finished yet, far from it. It could have been finished in 1948, but you interfered, you stopped it.because of your Diaspora mentality.

Ask them, if they walk out of the room you will know, becuase they certainly have no problem calling everyone else racists.
2 :
These elder leaders of Israel are of the Old Guard. They were terrorists against UK occupation before 1948. Since then, Israel has been attacked 5 times by neighboring Arab states, who refuses to acknowledge Israel's right to exist as a nation. Are they racist? No. Are you?
3 :
The state does have policies only protecting white Zionists supporters or Jews, not jewish arabs, jewish africans, or even jewish gays., may not b as harsh as Iran is on homosexuality but it is harsher on ethnic groups to create a false statistic of minorities in claims the jewish majority exists. It is why the state offers insurance on homes for a hopes o getting a huge head count over the Palestinians, truth is Jews are and always will be a minority and Zionists are not all Jews. The state is un called for and part of the plan which put Hitler into power, a propagandists who created the myth of a problem to extort the German nation after plunging it to a abyss. No one denies there was a Holocaust aka Shoa, what allot of people have been discovering is that Hitler himself was a Zionists Jew hater, like many Zionists that hate the Diaspora Jewish way as your posts displays stated by as Ariel Sharon !
4 :
...Israel is a Jewish State (secular and religious). They believe as they always have that God (YHVH) has given them the Land that "they" currently occupy... and from the direction of what history has shown, "they" have held on to that Land quite efficiently in the face of overwhelming adversaries ! (...maybe God and the Jews know something that the rest of the World might need to take a hard look at, umm ?)
5 :
For Israel to exist as a Nation it is written that all 12 tribes must be re united and spread abroad the lands to bring peace, this is not the case, this is a isolation of colonialism based on a Ideology to create a STATE NATION aka Country out of a land for anyone who believes in one God, to defer that alone is racists and against humanity, those who support it admit they do not recognize others as human beings., as i read those who claim others are anti american or israel are themselves against equal rights., the international community is not just the UNITED STATES and political allies aka dictators but all the WORLD , all the world clearly sees racism from the state of Israel, nothing else. Elders where put to death during the state becuase they where to weak to fight according to the founders of the state and the Zionists Messiah Theodre Herzl, Satan's very own friend.

Oh Com on, those statements by ARIEL SHARON and Menachem Begin where just jokes, they do not mean that the other 2 legged goys are not people, just that dark ones who came down from the trees never existed, sort of pulling the weeds out, they did that land good by burning down the Olive, orange, almond, blossom and honeysuckle trees, they replaced them with huge prisons of kid napped children and woman to be sure there relatives did not ever try to appose settlements. Israel is the most moral and honest army, sure they lied a few hundred times about there nukes, sure they hid that there politicians raped and murdered children for fun, wanted by israeli police and FBI for fraud, money laundering etc, but there God has a plan so america pays for it, you know they say Israel will do america a favor and be head them, i am sure they will stand in line like usual, so why don't you too, its fun to die, all you are is a animal, i dont see white skin, Hitler himself loved the blond blue eyed jews, so why dont you admit it, they are the master race, no matter if they are muslim or jews, they will always butcher dark folks.

This is a very popular one while Zionist TV re write there own about Iran: Ben-Gurion commented on the proposed Peel Commission Partition plan as follows in 1937: "We must EXPEL ARABS and take their places .... and, if we have to use force-not to dispossess the Arabs of the Negev and Transjordan, but to guarantee our own right to settle in those places-then we have force at our disposal." (Expulsion Of The Palestinians, p. 66). Note the premeditated plan to ethnically cleanse the Negev and Transjordan which were not allocated to the Jewish State by the Peel Commission,
9 :
well does 400 statement by all israeli leaders like those have any excuse, if they are not racists and blame the Palestinians then they became racists, now where do we put these homeless kids, is that what they are saying, they got 2 trillion of US tax payers earned dollars so far!
10 :
More then Racists, look at the plans they have put to action today which our economy has been crippled from! New world order "The Zionists as a whole will become its own Messiah. It will attain world dominion by the dissolution of other races, by the abolition of frontiers, the annihilation of monarchy and by the establishment of a world republic in which the Zionists will everywhere exercise the privilege of citizenship. In this New World Order the children of Israel will furnish all the leaders without encountering opposition. The Governments of the different peoples forming the world republic will fall without difficulty into the hands of the Zionists. It will then be possible for the Zionists rulers to abolish private property and everywhere to make use of the resources of the state. Thus will the promise of the Talmud be fulfilled, in which is said that when the Messianic time is come, the Zionists will have all the property of the whole world in their hands." — Baruch Levy, Letter to Karl Marx, 'La Revue de Paris', p.574, June 1, 1928

Today 2009, I cannot consider a nation like Israel 'racists' as they gladly live side by side with other cultures, inhabiting Jews, Christians and Muslims. I've been there, nice country and people. Honey what year is it now. Menachem Begin as Israeli Prime Minister made that statemnt during 1977–1983. It's now 2009. Why are we still looking back.
12 :
Honey it is 2009, no one in israel is racist any more, lets give back the land and compensate the victims who lost there lives to Hitler and Racists Israel's past, now that this year some decide Israel is not racists. Was it only January that the last racists from the USA put on Israeli uniforms, got passports from Israel and massacred a few thousand people? Hypocrites and liars still trying to justify a racists state, DUH of course it is racists, just as ignorant and racists as those who posted here defending it, if your post is also deleted be proud that you know how racists the site is, youtube is even censored by red neck KKK's from israel, not all israelies are racist, many are jewish or simply do not need a flag up to present there bad character.
13 :
I think that Israel is Racist M
14 :
Since no one asked the presidant of Iran why he believes the State of Israel is racist and oppressed Palestinians, Jews, Muslims and many christian neighbors why do not we, or did he already prove who the clowns where in the audience? Lord we need to get rid of teh clowns, does to show who ran the UN!
15 :
The usual Israeli excuse is to say its all lies or it never happened. How do they answer to the fact that Israel are going to build A Memorial of Tolerance to remember the holocaust right on top of a Palestinian cemetery ? or even more quotes from Israeli leaders both past and present ? All lies also ?
16 :
Is it not interesting how the world thinks the US and Israel exploit racism but not according to there media. Look at the USA, 92 million Native American in indians, early heretic jewish slave traders, they even tried starting this in south africa, it is 2009, Israel recognizes no progress, just that Zionism is the ultimate supremacists new world order..
17 :
Jews are racist ... They know they're racist, I know they're racist, You know they're racist .. All the dead Arabs know they're racist .. All right minded, sane human beings know they're racist.. Its as plain a fact as.. that the sun rises in the east. What is this question even about?
18 :
your quotes are b-s.
19 :
Not at all. In Israel there are a mix culture of people living there. With what you are posting doesn't sound good, but where is your source to back this up?? Did you get this from an Arab source?? I think it is the 'radical Islamists' who are racist against the Jews. Plus, even in the U.S. there are still racists among us. They are every where! So stop saying that Israel is racist and do some more of your search instead of looking at resources that have a beef with Israel. Do your homework! Who's blowing up who??

Does Obama support Israel or not

Does Obama support Israel or not?
This statement in regard to the Khalidi tape certainly doesn't sound like Obama is a friend of Israel. http://israelinsider.ning.com/profiles/blogs/2018399:BlogPost:11939 "Saw a clip from the tape. Reason we can't release it is because statements Obama said to rile audience up during toast. He congratulates Khalidi for his work saying "Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine" plus there's been "genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis." It would be really controversial if it got out. That's why they will not even let a transcript get out."

WOW, another good reason why I'm glad I didn't vote for him.
3 :
I think he must or Mossad will take him out. Isn't that the way they do business? Seriously, Israel is grossly over represented in our government- America needs them like a hole in the head anyway. This is the cause of all of our grief over their. He should make certain demands upon them not to increase their unlawful settlements. Beyond that I'm all for Israel, but not to our own detriment- its' a cost/benefit thing.
4 :
Why would a Muslim support Israel....get real!
5 :
Nope. Muslims support Muslims. Obama will nuke the shite out of the Jews.
6 :
He's polling at 80 percent with Jewish voters. I don't see this getting much vote traction. Sorry.
7 :
Honest question: What's the big deal if someone is for or against Israel? What if Obama was against Finland? Would you care then? Or what if McCain was anti-Portugal? WHY DOES ISRAEL MATTER OVER OTHER COUNTRIES?? EDIT: you can give me as many thumbs down as you want.... It's an honest question looking for an honest answer.
8 :
I believe those things he said. Why would he want to hide that?

As a Christian I have always felt it a God given duty to honor the Jewish People and have done so. However, I have seen polls that indicate that approx. 75% of the Jewish people in America are supporting Obama. Should after election polls bear out the polls I have seen, I will feel the freedom to abandon mu support of the Jewish people as they have abandoned God by their support of Obama. They invite their own demise.
13 :
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! Perhaps, like with everything else he will change on that just before the election hour. Nothing surprising.
14 :
I would say not. Especially since he now says he does.Ever notice how the words "lawyer" and " liar" sound alike? Obama is at least one of these two.
15 :
No. Obama doesn't. He is friends with terrorists already who have called Israel evil. He wants to make friends with Iran's leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who has sworn to kill the Israeli's, and also trying to make nuclear bombs against International law, and a treaty they signed to not make WMD, sit down and have a tea party with a terrorist. How many terrorist friends does one Presidential candidate need? All of them? He told Georgia, who is being attacked by Russia to use restraint! He's a frigging nutcase!

Why should Israel arrest Palestinians for opposing the building of their so called "security walls"

Why should Israel arrest Palestinians for opposing the building of their so called "security walls"?
It now seems that its an offense in Israel to hold different views to their corrupt government. Its even stated that foreigners are not exempt Does this mean I may be getting a visit from Mossad. If so I hope they come well prepared . Palestinians are also getting arrested for not having visas to work. Have Israel forgotten without Palestinian underpaid workers they could not even build these Berlin walls let alone their illegal settlements http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2010/02/201028105421154932.html

It has been an ongoing battle one u nor me might see the end of so lets see, foreigners are not seen well in alot of countries, they see foreign they see capture money. We invite all to our poor country. underpaid workers working their buts off for nothing I have no sympathy look at American children eating only the free lunches they get.
2 :
They don't want to risk peaceful opposition to their illegal occupation breaking out, it would ruin their myth that they have to commit human rights violations to defend themselves.
3 :
Israel is doing the right thing to protect its citizens from the murderous fanatics in Palestine.
4 :
You would have a lot more credibility if you didn't keep quoting Aljazeera propaganda. If Israel arrested someone, I would guess that person broke a law. That happens in civilized countries around the world. Break a law - get arrested.
5 :
Why would you get a visit from Mossad? I highly doubt you live or work in Israel, and you aren't any sort of threat to them. They have bigger fish to worry about. You know, people who actually threaten civilian life. Palestinians getting arrested for not having visas? If it is a law in Israel that you cannot cross into green-line Israel without a visa, then who are they to break it? I mean, it is legal for the U.S. to deport anyone not having the correct visas to be here. Same thing, really, since many people flock to the U.S. for work. Speaking of which, where are the jobs the PA promised? Do you know why some willingly build the settlements? Because, to them, feeding their families is more important than letting them starve for a state. Yes, I know, it is a tragedy that they have to illegally flock to Israel for a chance to work, but they are still breaking the law, and are arrested because of it. Israel attracts many from abroad, so they don't need Palestinian workers, like you insist. And, while I'm not 100% behind the wall, I do recognize the fact that, because of it, 90% of the terrorism has decreased, and Israelis are less scared now. Sucks that they had to do that to halt Palestinian terrorism, but Israel does what it has to.

Israel says Hamas is hiding byombs everywhere, why don't they just let journalists/investigatrs in to prove it

Israel says Hamas is hiding byombs everywhere, why don't they just let journalists/investigatrs in to prove it?
Its quite simple. Then we can all see Israell loves palestinian civilians and is only aiming at gunmen - ho are all btw playing peek-a-boo behind little kids. And that all that white gas is just some harmless smoke (white smoke that leaves burns?) And that Israeli is 'doing its utmost' to avoid civilian casualties - of which there is now over at least 600. And that Hamas is keeping piles of bombs in mosques and UN schools and clinics with the the help from Christians (which is of course why the red cross clinic was bombed they say). I mean, if Israel can see these from the sky, how can journalists miss them from close-up? And that All those press/UN cars bombed had hamas drivers and were loaded with rockets. INSTEAD they post their own cheap youtube videos from 2007 and expect us to accept such 'fair and impartial' evidence, as they did with regards to bombing the UN school. Only to have it totally rejected by the UN: http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2009/01/20091805410769377.html wrote: John Ging, the director of operations in Gaza for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (Unrwa), told reporters that he had visited the school during a three-hour lull in the fighting on Wednesday and "was reassured by the management of the school ... that there were no militants in the school". Ging added that these were his "own staff, senior, experienced, long-serving staff". "I am very confident now that there was no militant activity inside the school nor militants in the school," he said. He also reiterated a call for an independent investigation into the incident. "If anybody has evidence to the contrary, then let's bring it forward," Ging said. Watch John Ging himself reject their claims: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=lT9rjF2EKBY So if letting journalists iin will only work in israel's favour, why put illegal restrictions to do the opposite and STOP them? CAN YOU BELIEVE ANYTHING ISRAEL SAYS? Alistair, at least Hamas has the honesty to claim responsibility for its actions of resistance (not terrorism as you call it - but their legal right to resist the occupier). At least they are not as low or hypocritical as israel to break international law throuhg the siege, routinely intimidate and militarily harass and even kill (in the four years prior to this operation cast lead massacre, Israel had killed 1,339 gazans), and then kill over 1000 people in 2 weeks (mostly civilian, over 300 children), use banned white phosphorous, with the most advanced (US supplied) weaponry against a strip of land of impoverished people walled in by a fence (remnd you of the holocaust?)... AND AFTER ALL THIS IT HAS THE HYPOCRISY TO CLAIM IT IS THE 'CIVILISED/ADVANCED/ NATION OF THE MIDDLE EAST AND IS A VICTIM?! [by the way, you failed to answer my question but tried diverting to hamas as usual] mov ah 4ch, actually you should look up cluster bombs that have been banned by most countries (except US and Israel of course) to see 'multiple explosions'. And is that your only evidence, that you saw multiple explposions after a building was bombed? who said it wasn't gas canisters (used to provide fuel/heat) didn;t go off, or gas pipes, etc. Or at least let in the journalists after your attack so they can verify it was 'bombs' (but really, intelligence means youre supposed to KNOW the target before you hit, not find out after you hit it. That's called stupidity - and murder). As happened in this example where a man lost 8 people loading gas canisters (which shows those cheap videos they show can never be regarded as reliable proof): http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7809371.stm What a lame excuse you make: "We want to protect the journalists so we dont let them in, even if this is illegal. But we love you journalists too much, you must understand that surely?" llc, I wish i could give my name to you so you cold live up to it. Journalists have been BATTLING to get in - NOT that they don't want to get in. Its their job. See for yourself: http://www.presstv.ir/Detail.aspx?id=82149&sectionid=351020202 And when it comes to journalists' safety, it is Israel who has killed them before (remember rachel corrie) and is still doing so in this operation cast lead massacre: http://cpj.org/2009/01/journalists-killed-in-gaza.php http://abcnews.go.com/International/Story?id=5175465&page=1 Next time, please be ready to post some proof for your claims.

I can believe the 425 terrorist attacks that Hamas has claimed responsibility for from september 2000 - december 2008
2 :
how will the *brave* israel hide its atrocities if every freakin thing they do gets covered up?
3 :
they don't want them to see what they are doing.
4 :
I can believe secondary explosions. There are no missiles that explode 5 times in a row - such weapon was not invented yet. When I see 1 missile hit a mosque and 5 explosions, that means there were bombs there. The reason they dont want any journalists in the sector is that they realise that the journalists will end up in harm's way, put there by Hamas - and Israelis will be blamed for that too.
5 :
israel needs it's propaganda machine... nothing much else going for them, their contributions are nil and well... it's time for israel to grow up....
6 :
Yr assumed name " think" is what u need to do. First of all journalists can only see what they are allowed to see. Journalists will not always do a good job for a number of reasons including put their own lives at risk when they are abt to find out that Hamas and the like do not want them to find out. Good try though. Israel has to finish the job now or never.
7 :
To mov ah 4ch: Israel can allow journalists to enter at their own risks by signing an agreement that Israelis will not be responsible if anything happens there. That’s what journalism is all about. But Israel is just finding ways so they could not be caught by international law makers or UN. And they are also afraid of what will happen if their own people will get to know what really is happening in Gaza?
8 :
Ah... the old "It's for the journalists' own protection" excuse. People using that should give up. Just give up. Nobody buys it. It is the plain "let's hide the truth (or carnage) as long as we can". There are plenty of journalists willing to risk their lives for a good story. The media really wouldn't care. And as if Israel would care for the lives of journalists more than it cares for the lives of, for instance, the Canadians who were caught on the area. It took Israel 10 days to "allow" them to leave the ghet... the area. Meanwhile, get bombed.
9 :
simply because that would unsettle every thing israel claimed and intent to fabric,,
10 :
The journalists would blow their white hat off and expose their lies and true gruesome side.
11 :
for all the guys who say that israel doesnt want the journalists to get harmed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in fact Israel shoot journalists and Doctors ambulances hospitals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would Israel accept MDS in response to Iran threatening her with missles

Would Israel accept MDS in response to Iran threatening her with missles?
We've been testing a small-scale version of this missle system for ten years or so, and it appears to work. Now it may be time to put them to work in Israel since the Iranians appear to be scratching for a fight. We could SELL them to Israel but then we have to accept the repercussions if there is failure, and we will need the ability to respond in force should they work, too. Yes! The Patriot missles DID work 15 years ago, but NOW we have to deal with the threat of more complex missle systems. Please read my answer to an earlier question that dealt with Israel. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aupkn2lX7SqviCbwU.ynWtzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071018101030AAx4dsT The winning answer was LAME, at best!

It is not a road that anyone should go down just wait for global warming to burn us all up. We should all be working to save this planet instead of regarding everyone who is not our colour of religion as the enemy. Israel is our only hope to keep some sort of normality in the middle east without brain washing all the citizens. The Mosques are preaching hatred to youths to keep their power over them, encouraging them to kill themselves in the name of Islam doing the deeds that the Imans are to cowardly to do themselves. The two cultures are so far apart we do not want our children to grow up and die, they tell their children they will be rewarded in the next life. As for the poor teacher in Sudan who has gone to help educate the Muslim children, They should be pleased that children had picked the name of Mohamed to call a loved toy in the same way they are taught to love and respect Mohamed We are never going to understand the way their minds work.

Why is the US fighting wars on behalf of Israel

Why is the US fighting wars on behalf of Israel?
I was watching C-Span this morning (7am pacific time), with a former CIA agent as the guest. He said that the US is fighting the wars of Israel such as in Iraq, Iran and Yemen to name a few. He said that Israel has the biggest lobby in DC, the 2nd largest being Saudi Arabia. He said the US gets no benefit from helping Israel and a caller said instead is making enemies, self-inflicting itself by having the same enemies Israel has just so it does the dirty work for Israel. The agent's name was Michael something. So why does the US shoot itself in the foot, bringing to our soil the suicide bombers that are Israel's enemies and who in the past have fought on Israeli soil against Israelis by choosing to fight those enemies on behalf of Israel and causing more harm to itself than good? The analagy is if someone has a cockroach problem, they ask their friend in another townn to kill the cockroaches by bringing all of them to their house. Now both have the same problem and it keeps on growing. Why can't the US tell Israel to deal with their own problems and provide help if they need it without plaster our face as the #1 target and leaving Israel in the background so they are safe and sound and being a volunteer martyr on their behalf like whipped dummies controlled by them? Don't get me wrong. I love Israel and Jews. It just makes no logical sense to fight someone else's war when a) there is no way whatsoever that the west could ever ever win an enemy such as the entire Muslim world who fight with terrorism so why create an enemy out of them just because they are Israel's enemy??????? Do you think George Washington or Abe Lincoln would think that was a good idea?????? b) just because they have money to pay off politicians to do what is for THEIR interest not the US's (the definition of a lobbyist is someone who pays to get special interest in return) why should I roll over and be quiet and say it is ok when I can clearly see it is not and have the right to voice that opinion. The West has never had great contempt for Islam, not until Israel was created that is. The West has never waged war against them and have lived in peace since the beginning of time with Islam nations. Now that Israel took their land to make it their country and represses the Palestinians, THEY created enemies of Islam nations and now they want the US to fight their wars. First Iraq was a threat to them because they were funding their suicide bombers, so the US goes in and wipes out the entire friggin government and replaces it with a pro-Israel one. Now Iran is threatening to create a nuclear weapon that could reach Israel so the US across the globe is/has created an enemy out of it. Oh and it is also at taxpayers and our entire economy's expense as we can witness for the past 10 years what our economy has turned into thanks to the pricey war the US has waged on behalf of Israel. Seriously, this has got to stop before it gets worse.

AMEN sister. This may be radical to some people but I honestly believe that if we had not been friends to Israel and never given them any money, that 9/11 would have never happened. Meaning that we wouldn't be in Iraq or Afghanistan.
2 :
I do not know why the US acts like they are scared to death of Israel. It is not like they are any thing special.*
3 :
So you think we should throw one of our greatest allies under the bus because other countries might hate us for it? Doesn't matter, people hate us as a way of life, not necessarily because Israel is a friend of ours. I'm not sure what the Iraq war has to do with Israel. That supposedly was not one of the reasons why we invaded them this time.

Because many Americans have a great deal of contempt for Islam...with good reason...and supporting Israel, the only free nation in a region surrounded by Islamic dictatorships, is an excellent way of making this point.

I agree. Israel does have one of the biggest lobbies in DC. Israel is the most powerful country in the Middle East with the economy, military, and nuclear weapons to boast it they don't even need our help. I don't see Israel lifting a finger helping us on anything.
7 :
I couldn't agree with you more. I am so tired of hearing about how we are fighting for Israel, and that they are our closest ally. We need to be focusing on the United States and that's it. We need to quit policing the world.
8 :
These opinions might be the reason why this "Michael something" is a *former* CIA agent. Israel and the US are on the same side, but fighting Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen has nothing to do with Israel. The only real danger that Israel shares with the US is Iran, which threatens Israel, American bases and allied Arab countries in the Persian gulf, and European countries. Even if Israel acts on its own against Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran is likely to use everything they've got against every possible target. This also includes activating Hezbollah terrorist cells in the US. Israel doesn't "have a lobby". American citizens have a lobby that cares about Israel. see the difference? --- edit --- Ever wondered why Muslims often call the west "crusaders"? Hint - It has to do with the crusades from the 11th to 13th centuries. THIS is how long the west the the Muslims (mostly - Arabs) have been fighting. Long before the state of Israel was created.
9 :
yes, and all the american contractors who entered Irak after USA conquered it, they also are fighting the Israel war ?. don't be innocent, USA will fight any war which is economically profitable for their corporations and their army industry.

What do Christians think about Israel banning proselytizing

What do Christians think about Israel banning proselytizing?
Israel made it illegal to do missionary work in Israel. Especially Christianity. Christians are allowed in the country but are not permitted to try and spread the New Testament. Its punishable up to 1 year in jail to proselytize in Israel. Christians, how do you feel knowing that the 1 country you support the most, bans you from having religious freedom in it? Evangelicals disturbed by rabbis' call to Jews to shun joint ... ?Why US backs a country where Christian proselytizing is a crime ..... 11:44 The Writers' Haaretz: Israel's best authors report the news ... http://www.captaininternet.co.il/.../ShArtStEng.jhtml?... - Cached - Similar Lol. Yes, you could live in Israel. Hebrew is a little difficult to learn if you don't already know the basics, but you will pick it up eventually.
3 :
yes, you could live in Israel. You could work, provided you get a work permit. With regards to Hebrew, once you live there, you should learn it very quickly, plus most Israelis speak/understand hebrew. Depending on your job, language should not be a problem,
4 :
Yes you can, Israel is one of the best countries in the middle east. Democracy, nice weather, super nice nature, and lovely people. Welcome to Israel
5 :
Yes many nonJews immigrate to Israel consult an immigration attorney
6 :
Sure. Anyone can. Most non-migrant worker visas are issued for very high paid jobs. There is some rule where you must make double the national average wage. I don't know much details about what your skills are or if you qualify but there is other ways. If you have a desire to work in some of the desired fields then check here:

no criminal record? too bad, maybe they won't accept you bcoz of that .

Yes, you could. You would probably have to make many sacrifices for you to suceed. Since you mentioned that you are Christian, I guess this is important to you. Go to Jerusalem and get a job in a hotel dealing with Western tourists.

Most of Israel knows fluent english, and yes you can live in Israel pretty much no problem.

Sure but isn;t anything worthwhile a struggle. Good luck and God bless

Of course I will side with the victim, Lebanon...Israel, the 4th strongest army on earth which can 'wipe Lebanon off the map' any second, makes up 'terrorism' excuses in order to destroy Lebanon every summer...Why didn't they attack Hezbollah when they were still weak back in 2000?

I side with the civilians on both sides. When this conflict started, I thought Israel had the right to retaliate against Hezbollah for their 8 killed and 2 captured soldiers. But after hearing about all the civilian casualties, I'm beginning to think that Israel, knowing that they will always have the support of the US, is shooting at wherever they have the slightest hint that members of Hezbollah are, without even considering how many civilians they kill. I'm not saying Hezbollah is full of angels, but Israel is no better if they stoop to their level. The only people you can support in this conflict with a clear conscience are the Israeli and Lebanese civilians who are caught in the middle.

Is Isreal correct in doing what its doin to palastinians?? Doesnt Isreal have the backing of America ,which killed and is still killing thousands of innocent civilians each day when WMDs werent even found in Saddams mouth!!! okay...Hezbullah was wrong in (just) kidnapping two Isreali soldiers but is Israel correct in killing innocent civilians in Lebanon rite now....see this:www.fromisraeltolebanon.com Hezbullah has its weapons in civilian areas....why then we do not see detriment in Hezbullah's defensive attack on Israel which is targetting the Lebanese streets and civilian areas... for the sake of ones own security shouldnt one be defensive instead of being aggressive....isnt there a UN that is supposed to address threats and create peace....why then is Isreal being stern in its attack on Lebanon

You will need a voltage convertor at the least. You will also need a way to force PAL and defeat the region locking on games, either through homebrew or Freeloader, and Freeloader doesn't work on Wii's with firmware 3.3 or newer. US: NTSC, 120V, 60Hz Israel: PAL, 230V, 50Hz Wattage shouldn't matter.

If my country has no diplomatic ties with Israel, is it still possible to study there

If my country has no diplomatic ties with Israel, is it still possible to study there?
I am Indonesian, 25 years old, about to finish my bachelor's degree next year and add another year of postgraduate studies in my country after that. If it all works out well, I would like to come study in Israel at age 27 in 2012. Before this, I have studied Advertising and Philosophy in Europe (finished neither); and am currently studying a combo of Performing Arts Communication and Journalism. I am currently unemployed and have not started a "career path"; although I have previously worked as a translator, MC, and multilevel marketer. For some years by now, I've been wanting to study an English language master's program at the Hebrew University; majoring in either "The Bible and the Ancient Near East" or "Community Leadership and Philanthropy Studies." I have recently visited Israel and dropped by the campus, but the admissions office was not open. I am starting correspondence with someone from the admission's office but would also like to hear other people's well-informed opinions on the subjects. I was on a religious pilgrimage led by an Australian tour leader, and accessed Israel on a group visa organized by the tour company in Israel. However, my passport must not be stamped, and the authorities in my country must not know that I have visited Israel, because my country does not recognize the State of Israel and deems it illegal for its citizens to go there. Many Christians do anyway, just like I did, and I've never heard of an Indonesian Christian going to jail because of it. But neither have I ever heard of an Indonesian citizen going to live in Israel and study there. About the possibility of my studies at the Hebrew University, I have four main concerns: 1) The Hebrew University said that it can organize a visa for me, and that I will have papers separate from my passport in order to enter Israel. When I returned from my short visit, I told the immigration officer that I was coming from Istanbul, Turkey, because that's where I transited. How different would the procedure be if I were coming to Israel alone on a student visa, as opposed to as a group for religious pilgrimage? What are the risks of me being caught by Indonesian authorities to be living in Israel, and what can I do to minimize the risks? 2) Are there full scholarships for Hebrew University international students? Which organizations offer them, and what are the terms and conditions? I've heard that Hebrew University has an office in Australia which offers financial aid. I'm neither an Australian PR/citizen nor living there at the moment, but I studied secondary school and graduated from there; do you think it will help if I try applying for scholarship from there? Otherwise, where else can I look for scholarships? 3) How can I obtain a work permit in Israel? I am considering to either work on campus as a research assistant or off campus as a journalist. How much would I be making a month if I worked these jobs alongside my graduate studies? 4) How would studying abroad affect my personal life, for better or for worse? While 27 is a perfectly normal age to have just graduated a bachelor's degree and begin master's in Israel, in Indonesia that is considered very late. A higher priority for me right now should be starting my career; and the options I have found in Jakarta over the past three years have either been corrupt, requiring personal connections, very low paying, or simply unable to satisfy my appetite for intellectual challenge. Would working in Israel while studying a master's degree there give me a boost to later get better jobs or start a good business in Indonesia? Still part of question 4)... I'm currently in a steady relationship with a lawyer in Indonesia, whom I'm fixed to marry sometime after I graduate from my current studies. If I go to Israel, I may have to postpone our marriage by another 2 years. How will this impact our relationship? I'd like to think that it will be OK, because we need time anyway to save up money to buy a house, and I think my experience in Israel will be a good investment for us: my future husband will have a wife who is more mature, more well prepared in running a household, and have the satisfaction of living my youth to the fullest by mastering another trade and jump starting a career (as opposed to always being jealous of his career and never understanding what it's like to satisfy the demands of a profession). He's told me that if I wanted to study a little bit more overseas, he's fine with it, and even looking forward to come visit me on holidays. However, I also worry that pursuing this might create a rift between us and forever change the relationship I had always been looking forward to have with him. If the study goes on, I'd be 29 and he'd be 32 when we get married at earliest... year 2014! Would that be too long? Please help me sort out these que

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesia%E2%80%93Israel_relations http://infoscholarship.net/scholarships/israel-postdoctoral-fellowship 1) Israel is a western country - they accept many foreign students should be no problem there. Indonesia should not have problems accepting degrees from Israel - but discrimination will probably occur (my guess). since Indonesia is not a western country. Should you choose to live in Indonesia after getting a degree... If you choose to live elsewhere (western countries) Israeli degree will be appreciated more. If you want to open your own business... where you get degree should not matter. 2) Scholarships you need to search - look at the link. If you rely on scholarship 100% i would broaden my horizons by looking at other Universities 3) don't know -- find with university. Common sense tells me that Israel will pay better than Indonesia. Better Research opportunity, less corruption... 4) "A higher priority for me right now should be starting my career", "would working in Israel while studying a master's degree there give me a boost to later get better jobs or start a good business in Indonesia?" Better jobs opportunity is a function of (connections/networking, education, experience, luck, timing). Business is a function of (capitalization/money/investment, good idea, experience, timing, location, luck, education) -- education does not hurt in business but is a less of a factor. Personal life? it depends on both of you. He said it is fine. You want to focus on your career. Seems like there is agreement for you to continue education. getting education is short-term loss in terms of personal life but a long-term gain. If you can invest in yourself and get more education - you should go for it Good luck.

Why are democrat so weak on defense? Do they think freedom is free

Why are democrat so weak on defense? Do they think freedom is free?
It just amazes me how many "intellectual" liberals think negotiating with terrorists will work. Israel tried it for years and Hezbollah just rearmed. What will take for these lib fools to wake up, or do they just hate America? Saddam funded suicide bombers in Palestine, threatened the USA, and Iraqis did attack us (WTC '93 regardless of what the ignoramuses say on the left.) They call defending America warmongering. The Moore clan (democrats) were even b!tching about the war in Afghanistan. So, why are democrats so weak on defense. With Lieberman gone as a democrat, this shows how much cowardice and intolerance has filtered into the DNC. Oh for the courage of JFK in a democrat. They'd be calling JFK a warmonger for standing up to Russia in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Hey list, it's called 'GRAMMAR', jackass.

why are republican so weak on grammer? why do they enjoy using lame, retarded phrases like "freedom isn't free" so much?
9 :
The problem is that the Democratic party has become so radical that it has completly abandoned its onld principles and ideals. It has become a party of radical liberals instead of the old moderate party. They are pro-gay marriage, they are pro-killing babies (abortion), they are anti-war, they are anti-American. It's true, any of the great Presidents of old would be blasphemed as warmongers by every member of the DNC if they were in Bush's position. The new Democrats are more concerned with one-upping Republicans than they are with actually doing what is best for America. They are weak on defense because Republicans are strong on defense. No matter if it is good or not, the Democrats are instantly against whatever the Republicans are for. They are staunch partisanists, and they are weak on many issues simply because they don't want to agree with the Republicans on anything. Just look at Joe Lieberman. He agrees with the Republicans on one issue, and the whole Democratic party crucifies him for it. It's sad partisan politics, and it's ripping our beloved America apart

First of all Democrats are not weak on defense just because they are against a war with people who did not attack us. If the war had stayed in Afghanistan and they kept looking for Bin Laden, no one would have complained. Even Bush and Rummy now admit there were NO WMDs. So why have all these innocent people died?. If Bush really wants to keep terrorism on foreign lands, then why are we not doing something about protecting our own boarders?. And as far as Sadam goes......"Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush wanted Iraq for a place to build a permanent base in the oil-rich Middle East." Most notably, the Bush administration campaigned the American people and Congress for an illegal, preemptive war against Iraq with fabricated bogus intelligence of Saddam's WMDs and connection to 9/11. The Iraq War was in the works as far back as 1998. At that time, the current Vice President, Sec. of Defense and other Bush aides as well as brother Jeb lobbied Congress and President Clinton for a more aggressive foreign policy in which an already weakened Iraq would be conquered and colonized to become a sphere of U.S. military dominance with four U.S. bases in the oil-rich Middle East. The war was discussed during Bush's first days in office at which time Rumsfield declared that a Pearl Harbor was needed to sell it to the American people. Then, just by eerie coincidence, the World Trade Center was struck by planes and subsequently felled by somebody so that terrorism could become the subterfuge for the long sought-after war. Now, Bush is risking setting afire all of the Middle East by his passive toleration of the Israeli/Hizballah conflict. There is so much more to all of this then just that the democrats are soft on defense. Please, dig around the news on the web and read both sides.
