Earning money whilst learning Hebrew in an Ulpan in Israel/ work visa
Earning money whilst learning Hebrew in an Ulpan in Israel/ work visa?
I've looked into Kibbutz Ulpans, I'm now looking into Ulpan Gordon in Tel Aviv (for learning Hebrew in Israel). Is there any way to earn money whilst studying at an Ulpan. For the Ulpan I would have a study visa. To work in Israel I'm under the impression I would need a B1 work visa, where it seems you are only allowed to work in a specific field, and only that one field, at that one company, that you have specified on your work visa. Therefore, I don't think it's possible for an immigrant to get a part-time job(s) whilst studying in Israel (and frustratingly I know jobs are available). I'm wondering if anyone knows differently, has any advice, or can point me in the direction of advice. I am not Jewish, I'm a UK citizen, and yes I'm sure this is what I want to do. Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help Shoshi - what you have said is very interesting! I hope you get the chance to write back if you read this. Is it really legal to work as a babysitter without a visa? Could you please tell me how you know this? The prospect is very encouraging for me! Thank you.

Your best bet would be to find a job that doesn't require you to be a legal worker, such as babysitting or tutoring. Any other job would require you to get a work visa, but I'm pretty sure you are supposed to find work first and then bring a letter to the ministry of interior who deals with this stuff. Good luck! And kol hakavod!

can i work in israel
can i work in israel?
i'm american. practically my whole family on my father's side, except for my dad and his siblings, and my grandparents, were born in israel (and they're all jewish), and apparently my grandfather can move there anytime he wants because of some service he did in WWII. i'm wondering, because i am going to be traveling soon, and i want to work in a foreign country instead of flying back here. i was thinking farm or agricultural work or something. am i dreaming? does israel have much paid farm work? sorry i rambled a bit, thanks for answering.

Finding available (paid) work in Israel is difficult. Try one of kibbutzim
2 :
this violates the recent anti-israel boycotts. You may not be aware of the horrible things Israel has been up to lately. You are better off staying far far away from this backward occupying government.
3 :
Yes, you can work in Israel. Talk with a consulate or embassy to smooth out some details, though. Israel has a lot of agricultural work. There are kibbutzim, and moshavim, that should be willing to take you on. Many speak English, so if you have a problem learning a new language (especially a non-Romance one such as Hebrew), then you can learn at your own pace without having any kind of barrier. Behatzle'cha (good luck) Edit: pibe- While a maternal Jewish heritage does make one Jewish, anyone can be a Jew through the process of converting to Judaism. And while it is easier for Jews to immigrate to Israel, anyone can do it. And while some agricultural jobs do not pay well, the kibbutz is definitely a worthwhile thing to experience (or so I hear).
4 :
For immigrating to Israel you must be jewish. For being jewish, your mother, not father, must be jew In that case you can immigrate to Israel. If you get there you'll see that agricultural work is very bad payed.
5 :
Firstly, the Jewish is only inherited on the mother side of the family or if you in fact were born there. The farm work also known as Kibutz or Moshaf and they dont pay much at all, they do feed you however and give you a place to sleep sometimes you will share a room with one or more persons, but its great fun!!! If you want to make money you be better off working in Tel-Aviv or somewhere like it as a waiter or dishwashing. There is plenty of jobs available if you want to work.In Tel-Aviv you book yourself in one of the hostels and everyday someone will call needing someone to do some kind of work dishwashing, construction ect.The hostel i used was called No1 Hostel in Ben yehudda street if i remember correctly. You will receive a 3 month visit visa when you get there, just always make sure you dont overstay and keep your visas up to date.Hope this will be helpfull and remember it`s illegal to work without the correct visas LOL!!!
6 :
To answer you, you will probably be able to only find a job as waitresing.Israel has become very strict with foreign workers. Even if you are Jewish you cant simply land in Israel and demand a job, there is a whole process that needs to be done, in order for one to get citizenship.Another option for you is to volunteer on a kibbutz or a moshav good luck
7 :
Caro, Yes you can find a work if they give you a permit, now to get the permit in an Apartheid system it will be very tough, Good luck anyway.

If you passport has some evidence that you were in Israel, you will probably have trouble getting a visa. But since that was 5 years ago, has the passport that had your Israeli visa expired? If not, can you "lose" that passport and get another one? The new passport will not have evidence of the Israeli visa, so you should be good to go.

Will a BlackBerry I buy in the US work here in the Philippines
Will a BlackBerry I buy in the US work here in the Philippines?
I live here in the Philippines, but my mom will be going to the states. I really want a BlackBerry, so would it work here? She's probably going to buy it from T-Mobile. Also, my sim is Smart, is that compatible with BB? Also, is there any chance I would be able to use BBM? Since all my friends are using that, and they're from the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.

Any T-Mobile phone she buys off contract* should work anywhere there is GSM coverage as well as it does on T-Mobile, provided you buy service from a local network and put in the SIM. If you buy it from AT&T, it will most likely work, but the data network won't be nearly as fast, due to using a slightly different 3G standard. There's next to no chance it will work if bought from Verizon or Sprint, though. I don't know about the Blackberry features, though. I think BBM should work. * The off-contract thing means that in the States, they often discount phones steeply if you buy it and promise to use it on that network for two years. It would work on any GSM network still, but you would be stuck buying service from a network you can't use where you live. My understanding is that they do this nearly nowhere else in the world, so pardon me if you already knew this.
2 :
Actually it will not work. If you buy any blackberry on T-Mobile or A T&T network, their cell phone are locked to use their own sim cards only and will not work with any other sim cards like Smart. So if you purchase a blackberry and took it back to the phillipines, the cell phone will not accept your country sim card. The reason is all cell phones here in the United States are locked to use their network sim card. The only way you would be able to purchase a blackberry and use a sim card Smart or any other philippine sim card is to purchase a Blackberry that is unlock. Meaning the software on the blackberry has been change so that you can use any sim card that operates on GSM network. Then you can insert your smart sim card and it will work on the Blackberry. Try checking on ebay website for unlock Blackberry cell phones that work on GSM network. I don't know about BBM. You would have to research more on that. T-Mobile cell phones let you travel from the United States to any international country but you are required to use a T-Mobile sim card to receive and make calls.

Is it viable for a college student to live/work/study in Israel
Is it viable for a college student to live/work/study in Israel?
Would I be able to take college classes there? Will I make enough money to support myself in a studio that has internet? Will being able to speak English make it easier for me to find a job? Will being from America make it harder for me to find a job? Thinking of moving to the Tel Aviv area, and yes I am jewish.

There are many colleges that allow foreigners to study for the year / entire time in English. If you know only English then it would be fine to live in Tel Aviv. There are many people there who know English. Being American wont stop you from getting most jobs (except ones that are language based). Knowing English could help you depending on which jobs you chose.

im sure the secret services of several if not all NATO aligned countries were in the know about what was going down so they would be ready for any contingencies and to act towards preconcieved goals on foreign policy in the middle east ... blaming the Jews is pointless and ignorant.

What is funny is why do they always blame the Jews? I'm not sure if this happened if you are talking about the 911 conspiracy, but I did see the film circulated via net. So many questions unanswered, that I don't think we should even pay taxes anymore!

the Israeli's had nothing to do with causing 9/11. It was the American CIA. Bin laden has CIA connections. The CIA should be disbanded. Those jet liners should have been shot down and not allowed to slam into the twin towers. Sure it would have been horrible to lose two plane loads of people. But now we have lost two 110 story buildings due to our air forces unwilling or inability to take action.

Okay..LOL

Do you know for a fact that they did? Also, why didn't the U.S. Government check with all the Arab-owned hotels near the WTC and why weren't all the Arab-owned businesses checked out in New York City? Why did the U.S. Government give sanctuary to illegal aliens while taking away the rights of U.S. Citizens? Why is the U.S. Government still giving preferential treatment to illegal aliens while enforcing the laws against U.S. Citizens? Why were illegal aliens checking the baggage at our airports while U.S. Citizens were suffering all the restrictions placed on us after 9/11/01? Why are U.S. Border Patrol agents only targeting OTMs instead of all illegal aliens? (OTMs are other than Mexicans) Why were illegal aliens working on our bases and in our ports? Why are non-citizens working in our government, at our ports, on our bases, etc.? Maybe if we all demanded answers to these questions and were more diligent in our oversight of our government, 9/11/01 wouldn't have happened. We certainly have many more questions than we do answers. Also, a bunch of armoured cars left the rubble at the world trade centers taking out money and valuables that were in vaults that had been buried but not destroyed. Where did that money go? What kind of investigation did our government do into insurance collections and where did all the belongings from the victims go? Did the government even try to get them back to their families or their rightful owners?

15 :
Great Question! The answer is obvious. Who has the most to gain by America declaring a war on terror (especially Muslim terror)? Answer:...ISRAEL!! Mossad was HEAVILY involved with 9/11. Every day Israel has to be on its toes to protect itself against the Islamic nations who have publicly declared they want to wipe Israel off the map. With these kind of stakes, concocting a 9/11 false flag attack was a brilliant move (it was so convincing, some people even believe it was real). The U.S. just had to cover it up (and, of course, make sure no fighter jets got scrambled to inturrupt the "attacks"). And even today, Mossad is all over these message boards posing as responders to the 9/11 questions and giving links to the propaganda sites. This is something they can do from Israel without even hiding out in America.

Will Visa money card work in Israel
Will Visa money card work in Israel?
I am sending my relative a Visa money card to Israel. Will he be able to get money out of ATM over there. Or is it better to send cash? What is the best way to mail a camera to him. Fed Ex or Insured Mail Us Postal Mail? What kind of customs do you have to pay for it..Thanks for any help about this...

the best way is to send check via EMS
2 :
Sorry about the *&$$*# from these giving an answer before me. A regular thing on this site, children will be children. A Visa money card can be used in any bank that has an ATM. Most bank do. Cameras can be bought here for allmost the same amount it costs in the US, some samples and prices on this site. http://www.topmarket.co.il/index.php?categoryID=115&sort=Price&direction=DESC
3 :
Visa works everywhere
4 :
Actualy - the Visa money card is a great way to send cash to Israel. Visa is accepted in Israel and at Israeli banks. Good Luck!!!
5 :
He will be able to use an ATM. Don't send cash. Fed Ex Insured Mail, definitely. If you want to be sure, contact the bank in advance to tell them that he will be using this card from Israel. Otherwise, they may see a foreign country on the transaction, think he stole someone's identity, and confiscate the card. Good luck to you and your relative.
6 :
use western union http://www.westernunion.com/info/selectCountry.asp very easy and efficient do it fast before Israel will disappear
7 :
I just got back from Israel and used my Visa debit card quite a bit there. I found a few atms that right when you put the card in it would say "card not accepted here". No problem I would just go to another one. Before I went to Israel I had called my bank and they told me if for some reason I had trouble using it I could go to almost any bank there and and ask them to get money off my card. In short about 7 of 10 machines took my card.
8 :
Yes you will need to use the Leumi banks because they are the ones that work with VISA. I think you'll probably be able to use some other banks, but since the Leumi debit cards have VISA logos on them I would think it would be more reliable to use their ATMs. Also, western union is a good way to send money and there is normally one in most post offices around the country. The best way to get a camera or any gift to someone is to bring it in like it's not a present, like it belongs to you then just don't leave with it.

the best way is to send check via EMS

9 :
yes i visa does work in israel he will be able to get money out of the atm the other stuff i dont know about

does america instant messenger (AIM) work in Israel
does america instant messenger (AIM) work in Israel?
i live in America, but im thinking of bringing my mac laptop to Israel in vacation. would the wireless internet there work? if you dont know specifically about Israel, then other countries , like england, or france, or whatever. I WILL give out points to the best answer!

wait i thought aim stood for aol instant messenger?? i dont think it would work, cuz i tried aim while i was in england and it didn't work, but my grandparent's computer was crap so maybe that was the problem... but if not, just use email...its not THAT baddd :]
2 :
I live in the U.S. I have a friend who lives in Israel. She works for a U.S. company. Her Mac notebook was purchased in the states, and is loaded with U.S. software. We chat frequently online. Your computer, WiFi and software will work. I have another acquaintance who travels back and forth from France, and again, no problems. The only thing that would create problems for you is the modem, if you wanted to connect via phone line.
3 :
Well the thing is if your bringing your own laptop it shouldn't really matter too much. Being in Israel wouldn't affect your laptop, and the only thing it could really affect would be your ability to connect to the internet. If you have a wireless internet card in your laptop, and their is accessible internet where you are, you should be able to connect to your AIM just like always. It should be the same everywhere if your using your own laptop. Only thing to worry about is a power cord for your laptop that works with their sockets, and an ability to connect to the internet.
4 :
As long as it is installed on a computer and the firewall does not block it, of course it will work. If it doesn't, simply use the Web-based AIM messenger - no need for software.
5 :
Absolutely. I brought my laptop there, and AIM worked. As did all of my other internet related programs. If you're in a hotel you shouldn't have much problem finding internet, but if your renting an apartment or something similar you should call up just to make sure! Have fun!

Will the new iPhone work in Israel?
just wondering if i could take it to israel and have it leagally?

Technically you can, however at&t is now requiring a 2-year activation in the store when you buy your new iPhone. Also you would have to unlock it, and you might have to wait a little bit until someone figures that out than you have to find out how to unlock it in order to use it in a different country. It's a little bit of a hassle but yes you can.
2 :
That's would not work because the iphone is going to be in the wrong bandwidth, US phones use the GSM 850/1800/1900 band where as isreal supports the GSM 900/1800/1900 band. You're basically not going to get any signal in isreal!!!

Would this Israel-Palestine peace plan work
Would this Israel-Palestine peace plan work?
What about a peace plan where Israel and Palestine are 2 independent states with their own government but Palestinians can come in and out, live, settle and work in Israel freely and Israelis can come in and out live, settle and work in Palestine freely. If Australians and New Zealanders can live and settle in each others countries freely what about Israel and Palestine? Would such a peace plan work for Israel and Palestine?

As long as Palestinians aren't allowed to vote in Israel. Israel is a Jewish state. If it is overrun with Arabs, it will cease to exist as one.
2 :
Yeah, well...New Zealand isn't really chocked full of extremist, militant suicide bombers, is it?
3 :
No. All good hearted stuff bud, i'd love to see it happen but the palestinians won't accept peace until they have some of their land back and Israel won't accept peace until they've taken the whole lot. Imo they should have one country called Israel/Palestine where everyone is a citizen and has the same rights as each other. Hope it happens soon, can't see it though.
4 :
No. Not for either of them. Palestine does not like Israel because of the idea that the Israeli's stole their land, and would not accept any solution that allowed Israeli's to move freely about any land that they retained (you'd be lucky to get them to agree to a split state in the first place) Israel doesn't like Palestine because they believe that the land belongs to them, and they have a fear that if they allowed the Palestinians to move freely about Israel, they would be such a significant voting population that they could attain political power and undermine the concept of a Jewish Homeland that Israel was founded on.
5 :
Well good luck with that ! they are like the old hatfield and mcCoys story been fighting so long don't even know what they are fighting about ! Just know they got to keep fighting !
6 :
Eventually yes this will be a part of it as unimaginable as it seems today. The most shocking thing for people to realize is that a future Palestian state will need tourism to survive on its own. The tourists will be Christians, again unimaginable today.
7 :
I like it. It would work.
8 :
Of course not. It's already been offered and rejected - by the "Palestinians." They keep SAYING they are committed to the destruction of Israel and since they're also ACTING like they are, why don't people believe them? If Palestinians can come in and out, live, settle and work in Israel freely, Isralel is 100% guranteed to cease to exist. Are you suggesting the most important thing to Australians is killing New Zealanders or the other way around? If neither, your comparison doesn't make even a little bit of sense. Anyway, your plan has an easily spotted FUNDAMENTAL flaw, even to someone (if such people exist) who doesn't know who/what/where Israel/Palestine is. Every war in all of human history falls into one of TWO categories: a) Still ongoing today. b) Somebody WON and the other side lost. There has never been an exception. Therefore we know there cannot be "Israel-Palestine peace" until a faction is defeated. Someone has to win. This means destruction of the "Palestinians'" ability to make trouble or the destruction of Israel. There isn't another way.
9 :
Your forgetting that Australia and New Zealand have more in common than Israel and Palestine. The two are closer to India and Pakistan. There are flaws in your plan. First, most Israelis, after Hamas firing rockets into Israel and the Intifada, don't trust the Palestinians that much. Second, your assuming that Israelis want to go into Palestinian West Bank towns and work and live, or that the Palestinians will allow it to happen. And forget about Gaza, when Hamas can't treat its own Palestinian Christian population correctly, all 2000 out of 1.1 Million Gazans in the strip.

Finding work in Israel for a forgeiner non jew
Finding work in Israel for a forgeiner non jew.?
Im Irish and currently in Israel on a tourist visa, I have spent a month living close to Tel aviv and my mind is made up I want to live here for now. I'm 21 and I have teaching english cert, TEFL. Will it be hard to gain work on an actual working permit? From what I hear it sounds like it. I would work any job and have good bar expierence although my preferred ocupation is teaching english. Any tips suggestions or anything will be appreciated as I've fallen in love with the place and can't imagine leaving anytime soon, thanks

from what i've seen on the net, it's pretty hard for a non jew to get a work visa my guess is your best bet is to find an employer while you are here, and get him to request a work visa thru official channels. otherwise working without a visa doesnt sound like a good experience. you're other choices would probably be marrying an israeli or converting, or maybe becoming a foriegn jouralist
2 :
I'm sure Israel has a labour ministry you can contact. The Irish embassy might be able to help too. If you have a good relationship with your employer(s), ask them to point you in the right direction.

Yes, of course. Any Israeli citizen can return to Israel and have all the rights. Moreover, the special program is adopted now for those who want to return to Israel from abroad; such Israelis have the tax privileges and the employers who hire them get special incentives.
2 :
You are an Israeli CITIZEN. That means you can move back to Israel whenever you want, as long as you have citizenship.

It sure does. To the second part of the question. If I understand correctly, you have download Combat Arms and clicked the shortcut on your desktop right? When it takes you to the website click "START GAME" - then log on - then click START GAME again and Combat Arms will start up. OR Go to Computer - Your hard drive - Nexon - Combat Arms - Find Combat Arms_Direct and double click it. It should bring up the old log on screen. Log on, and hopefully start playing.

Situation of guns in Israel, how does it work
Situation of guns in Israel, how does it work?
i'm just wondering how does the policy of guns work in israel? can anyone have guns to protect themselves? can you illegally obtain guns? are there any debates with guns in israel at the moment? i know the members of the IDF keep guns but for i'm talking about normal civilians.. thanks! i am not talking about the arabs.... yes violence between jews in israel, if any....

no, normal civilians don't have guns.. why should they have guns anyway?? when muslims attach israel, they only attack the army. so don't worry, if u r not in army, muslims won't kill u ^-^ myb other israeli people would kill u~ and if u r thinking that way, u must bring a gun. in normal cases, people go to police station to take the permission to buy a gun. and this will be legal. note for the next answerer, I'm not into news alot, but I know that Islam forbids to harm/hurt/kill any one who's not in the war, including women, children, eldiries and men who r not in the army. so if a muslim does something like this deliberately, he did something wrong and he must be punished.
2 :
It's not easy for a civilian to get a gun permit. There's a closed list of reasons why you might be permitted to get a permit, and when the reason is no longer applicable you can no longer hold a gun. Obviously, obtaining guns illegally, is illegal. Note to previous answerer - In the several past confrontations Arab countries have shown problem targeting civilians deliberately.
3 :
Every Israeli owns an MTAR or an Uzi! I mean they just have to have something to fight those "evil filthy satanic terrorists" ....which btw would not even exist if it wasn't for Israeli occupation. Right Israelis....???

Israel appreciates volunteers, its very nice of you. and there are a few organizations that you can contact, however Israel is not in any war, there are(thank god) not many orphans , israel does not need food relief, so i dont think you will have luck in helping out in those fields. if you are wanting to make aliya, then you can join the idf, the israeli army.a very popular choice is to volunteer on a kibbutz www.kibbutzvolunteer.com/links.html you can e mail/contact the following organizations that will guide you with regards to volunteering in israel, http://www.ivolunteer.org.il/eng/ http://www.vfi-usa.org/ http://www.volunteerabroad.com/Israel.cfm

OMG folks, I think God is calling on us [the American People] to do his work in Israel?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-10851692 God made it quite clear in the bible that the jews don't deserve Israel, and we all know that muslims don't deserve it either. The Native Americans (Lost israelite tribe) belong in Israel, I think it is time for the us [the American People] to take them home, to the place where they belong.

Wow. That is a no for sure. Our guilt at letting the Europeans slaughter the Jews made us recreate Israel. Had the Euro's stood up and stopped the Jewish genocide, none of this would have happened. No strife in the middle east, the arabs could go about killing the Palestinians like they did before and all is good in the world. Its like Afghanistan. Did you know that Afghanistan has only been a country (I use the term loosely) for about 150 years? The Brits decided to MANDATE a country there as a buffer zone between them and Russia during the height of the Imperialism times. It was to create an Empire for the Pashtun tribe. They have never had any unity here, nor cohesive Government the entire time. The kindest thing for Afghanistan is to let it fall apart, let the Uzbek part go back to the Uzbeks, the Tajik part back to the Tajiks, the Pashtun back to Pakistan, and the Hazzari and whoever is left to do what they would like. So no more meddling. The middle east is already way f**ked up right now. There is no need for further action by anyone in that neck of the woods. Israel needs to do its thing. Without outside interference.

Why won't Lebanon & Israel work together in securing the buffer zone
Why won't Lebanon & Israel work together in securing the buffer zone?
What would be the problem with Lebanon taking control of the buffing area, which is actually theirs, and Israel assisting Lebanon in keeping control of the buffing area, so as to assure that no undesired elements take it over from Lebanon? In which case if Lebanon ends up in problems with anyone because of it, it would be backed up by Israel and most everyone else.

Because the Lebanese government do not and cannot control the buffer zone, or much of Lebanon for that matter. The problem is not between Israel and Lebanon. The problem is between Israel and the radical Muslims.

leabon is arabic and they are continueslessy being taken advatage by iran to blow up israel therefore why should we but ourselfs out there ??? if we know why this is happening this is a war that we can't just put our hands up and say Lets protect the buffer zone there religon is extremly improtant to them THAT's why
4 :
Because hezbollah does not want peace, they want Israel gone and nothing short of that will do. Lebanon's government has been infiltrated by hezbollah and can not do that. Interestingly, many arab nations are condemning the actions of hezbollah and hamas... this has never happened before and of course the liberal media has completely missed this unheard of event.
5 :
Because Lebanon let the HEZBOLLAH terrorists control the southern half when Israel left and this is what is happening right now so if I was Israel, I would control that half permantly and in the meantime, get rid of the terrorists.
6 :
You sure make it sound that easy. There are hundreds of years of war, a culture that most of us do not fully understand and a religion that most of us (that are North American by heritage) don't practise. We cannot even begin to understand what the depths of these wars are all about. If it was as easy as you say I am sure you will be nominated for the next Peace Prize.

The HTC Touch Pro is a phone that works on a CDMA network. It will not roam on a GSM network which is what Rogers uses. It won't matter whether it is unlocked or not. GSM & CDMA technology are incompatible. Israel mobile phone networks also run GSM (900 & 1800 Hz). HTC Touch Pro will not work work in Israel.

hate to tell you this but israel is in for war. they are trading land for empty promices of peace. this is known as appeasal. if you look back in your history books EVERY TIME this has been tried it has resulted in invasion. al it does is wet the appitite of the aggressors (in this case the palistinians) (who oddly enough arent even a country or ethnic group incidentally) eventually Israel will be invaded. I say the land for peace thing is empty promices because the palistinians DO NOT WANT PEACE WITH ISRAEL! THEY WANT TO WIPE ISRAEL OUT OF EXISTENCE!! the proof happened when during one of the "peace talks" Israel offered the palistinians EVERYTHING THEY WANTED including Jerusalem as thier capitol. Yassir Arafat (i believe) the palistinian leader was offered everything they had been demanding and he refused then he stormed out of the summit without offering a reason as to why the offer was refused. like i said they dont want peace they want Israel wiped out! If you don't agree with the historical perspective then try the religeous It's all there in your Bible as well if you read it you will find that it says in the end times ALL NATIONS OF THE EARTH WILL COME AGAINST ISRAEL! we are in the biblical end times. the bible says the generation that sees israel become a nation once again will not pass before the time of the second coming of the messiah. the bible defines a generation as 72 years. since israel became a nation again in 1946 that means some time between now and 2018. thats 12 years. so Biblically speaking we are in the end times. Israel (biblically speaking) will soon be going to war. SO if you want to go to Israel to work... Go prepared for WAR because it is coming. and so is the Messiah. Are you saved. Are you ready for his return. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son. That whosoever believes in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
2 :
A. It's pretty safe to work in Israel. Much more that a lot of different part in the states, since the crime is pretty low. B. If you work as a domestic worked in an ORGANIZED company (it's very important!!) you can earn from 500-550$ a month and more. Good luck!

I think it will not work in israel, because as you can see the prices are different between these two countries and I have heard that Iphones sold in USA are with a simcard and you cannot change it.

make sure you are buying a sim-free version of the phone (without a service contract). iphones are being sold in israel as well.

They use different wave bands. Here at the US we have some pretty strict regulations for RF emissions. In israel they don't even know how a cell phone works.

I think it will not work in israel, because as you can see the prices are different between these two countries and I have heard that Iphones sold in USA are with a simcard and you cannot change it.
2 :
make sure you are buying a sim-free version of the phone (without a service contract). iphones are being sold in israel as well.
3 :
They use different wave bands. Here at the US we have some pretty strict regulations for RF emissions. In israel they don't even know how a cell phone works.

hello my friend, Ive had the same problem in Israel and found a way to fix it. 1: text all your friends with bbm your pin, and tell them to message on bbm in 5 minutes. 2: turn off your phone then take out the battery. 3:wait 24 hours before putting your battery in again. 4: while your phone is off about 30% of the people who messaged you on bbm will show, your connection should be temporarily up. 5:reply to all of them and this should connect your blackberry automatically. follow these steps and you'll be using bbm with ease.

I need to buy a cell phone which is unlocked will work in Israel with a sim card.?
I had a Motorola V188 from T Mobile which worked after I unlocked it and replaced the sim card with a local (Israel) card. I think all it needs is certain frequency which works not only in the US. Any ideas which phone, where to get it etc.... Also not looking to spend to much I dropped the last one in a sink and I am not all that confident I wont mess up the new one.

You need to make sure to get an unlocked triband or quadband phone. A good place to shop is www.ebay.com. Make sure to buy from someone with a high rating. Also check to see that the item is NEW and includes a charger and battery. Hope that helps and Shalom!

1) check with the nearest Israeli Consulate 2) ditto, though I think you can volunteer on a Kibbutz freely. 3) no. of course not. Israel is the only democracy in the area and there are people of all faiths there, most of them are citizens.
2 :
One of your four grandparents has to be a Jew and you have to be able to prove it. People who are not Jewish can apply to emigrate to Israel, but it is not automatic, they do not have the right of return. You can also work in Israel if you are not a citizen. Lots of people from Thailand emigrate to work there. They took over jobs the Palestineans used to do, but the Thai people don't blow up buses.
3 :
If all else fails, you can go to Thailand and get a worker's permit to live and work in Israel. But remember, "no money, no honey".
4 :
I believe you must be a Jew or married to one. Check with the local Israeli consulate on that.
5 :
1/2) contact the ministry of the interior.

I'm trying to figure out if it will work out of the country.

The Sony Ericsson T226 is a dual band phone. You have to check what band they use in that part of the world. I don't know. The other thing is, that you probably got it from AT&T or Cingular. If you did, it's locked. This prevents you from using the phone with any other provider. So there's two things you have to do: 1. Check if your phone band can work in that part of the world. If it will work there then... 2. You have to get your phone unlocked. You can get your phone unlocked by going to one of those cheap cell phone shops and asking them. (This could break your phone.) What I suggest is if you are still paying for monthly service bills, you could ask Cingular to unlock the phone for you. Call customer support and tell them what you need to do. They should be able to tell you if you can use your phone there too.

There are plenty of people -- particularly in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa -- that don't speak Hebrew well or at all (mainly recent Russian or American immigrants). Not speaking *any* is usually a feature of those who never really leave their ethnic community, so you should definitely start picking it up once you're there. But the three languages you do speak are easily the most commonly spoken in Israel after Hebrew and Arabic, so while it might be a little bit tedious at times to communicate with people who don't speak any of your languages (e.g. speaking to bus drivers or ordering food, etc.), you can still get by.
2 :
I think you will handle it for a while, since there are also many American Jews and English is taught since 2nd grade in Israel. However I will just remind it will be as hard as for an immigrant in the U.S without knowing English.
3 :
No problem whatsoever . You could ive your life in Jerusalem and not need a word of hebrew. Time to get home! Plus hebrew is really easy, and you are able to communicate with other russian and french immigrants .. win/win.
4 :
Nowadays, a 24-year-old unmarried male immigrant to Israel is required to do six months of military service. A 26-year-old is required to do three. Or so I believe. I'm just offering this for perspective. You're already an Israeli citizen, but at your age, I don't know how long your military service will be, if indeed you will have to do any at all. To the best of my knowledge, previous military service in another country can be 'subtracted' from the duration of your military service in Israel. These measures were taken to encourage immigration, which has dropped to about 10,000 a year from 30,000+ a year in the 1990s. Your university degree will probably get you started as an officer, not a normal recruit, if you join the IDF. As for whether you can work in Israel without Hebrew, it all depends on the employer and the job. A few jobs, most certainly, but not that many.
5 :
yes you can, Israel is a democratic state opened to all wise people (except Ayrabs.)
6 :
The amount of respect you will receive from your fellow soldiers will be in direct proporiton to how well you speak hebrew. So, learn it before you go. You must know how to read it, right? http://www.hebrew-verbs.co.il/

I HATE hot weather, so I like to go to Israel in December. I'm not sure what the rules are about a visitor getting a job. You could always work with Volunteers for Israel. http://www.vfi-usa.org/
4 :
Sure, and you can learn to make Latkes and sell them. Make some good money while you are there. $$$

The best time of the year to come is NOW... Passover is in 3 weeks (late this year) and it's already spring - and spring is the best season to come. About working here - I don't know, I don't think it's possible - you'd have to ask at the Israeli Embassy... Except for volonteer work - and for this there are lots and lots of possibilities... Good luck!

i'm not sure.. satellite radio definitely would. But HD Radio may only be available if a radio station has the ability to broadcast in HD.
2 :
Actually, I think one might work. Worldspace is the satellite provider for Africa, parts of Europe, Middle East, parts of Asia, et al. As for an HD Radio, it's possible since it tunes both even and odd number frequency settings. U.S. uses just odd, whereas Israel uses both.
3 :
It won't work. The US is the only country using Ibiquity's HD system. It will get standard AM and FM but not in HD.

How many times is "We made a Mistake" going to work for Israel?
They made a "mistake" when they blew up our embassy in Egypt back 50 years ago, they made a mistake when they attacked USS Liberty killing 34 unarmed American sailors, and now they claim they made a mistake when attacking unarmed activist bringing humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees? They didn't make a mistake this time... The "activists" were armed, their mission was a provocation -- both Israel and Egypt offered to transfer the supplies to Gaza, but the "flotilla" organizers refused, and they attacked the soldiers. <<refusing an order to stop or actively resisting visit, search or capture may render merchant vessels military objectives>> (San-Remo agreements) If anything, Israel's restraint is amazing again... Any other military, upon encountering such resistance, would've retreated and blasted the boat from the water with missiles/torpedoes, instead of risking the soldiers' lives trying to minimize the ENEMY'S casualties... The on-board fighting lasted "several hours", according to some news reports -- what kind of "peaceful activists" can fight elite military commandos for hours?

How do queues work in Israel
How do queues work in Israel?
I heard that people in Israel do not line up; instead, they mill about. However, they do remember which order they appeared in. Then, when the train arrives (or whatever), then they queue up, based upon their order of arrival. Is something like this true?
Israel - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Yes it is true. This is a 3rd world country. What do you expect? N.B. For those who get angry when I claim that Israel is a 3rd world country, I admit here that it is on the top of the list of 3rd world countries. Just next to Bangladesh. Happy now?
2 :
I've been on trains before, and I do not remember waiting in a line. Well, I'm currently in New Orleans, and that describes how we wait for the streetcar, except we do not care who got there first. Oh, and Dan Dan, can you provide a link that says Israel is 3rd world. Something of intellectual merit, i.e., not you.
3 :
There are all kinds. In some places where the waiting is long, you usually take a number and wait until it's your turn. In some of these places people queue up before they're opened, so sometime they just queue up, sometimes they write down the order on which they arrived, and sometimes they just remember who came before who. I haven't seen a queue for the train in Israel, I don't think there are such queues.
4 :
Isn't that method of queuing brought by immigrants from Soviet Russia, the making-a-list style of queuing? There, on occasion, queues would take so long that it was necessary to keep a list. Quite a civilised way to queue, if you ask me.

It is generally accepted in Israel that if you're the last person in line and someone shows up behind you, says they're next, and then they leave, you're their official place-holder. So when they show up again and cut in front of the people that have lined up behind you, they'll expect you to stand by them when they say they were there first. I used to find this particularly irritating, but now I'm used to it. Also, sometimes people don't make a line and instead just try to shove each other to get to the front. But the situation you are speaking of, I have never seen.

Not mine In London, people stand in line. And the lines there have a beginning, middle and end - in that order. Clear as can be. In Israel, you have an amorphous grouping that's called a line, and you can rarely tell where it begins or ends. Also, in London, people don't point at someone who's standing in the middle of the line and say, "We're together." There is individualism, limited though it may be. Each person has his place in line. Say your relative or your acquaintance or your good buddy wants to stand next to you, for whatever reason; he'll leave his more advanced spot in line and go backward. The lines at passport control in London are separated by these flimsy little ropes and no one tries to cut in. In Israel, the lines are separated by barbed wire, and there are always infiltrators. But that's okay. Really, it's okay. It just means I'm home .http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1097404.html

A while back, when I was in Angola, I had to drop a cigarette on the ground to get ahead in line. Israel is exactly the same. I guess you have to let a few loose change to hit the ground if you want the crowd to disappear. Steel
I heard that people in Israel do not line up; instead, they mill about. However, they do remember which order they appeared in. Then, when the train arrives (or whatever), then they queue up, based upon their order of arrival. Is something like this true?

Do 1948 Arabs in Israel work as even cops
Do 1948 Arabs in Israel work as even cops?
I know that when Israel was given the land in 1948, about 1 million local inhabitants (Palestinians) who wanted to stay were given Israeli papers and allowed to stay as a group called Arab 1948. I know they join the Knesset and everything. My question is what jobs are they prohibited from holding? Can they work as cops even?

It is a group known as Arab Israelis, they are not prohibited from holding any jobs. Israeli Arabs can be police officers if they wish. They are not obligated, but are also able to hold any job in the military. I had a Druze commander and an Arab soldier in a combat unit.
2 :
Woo, yes they sure can and do work as cops, matter of fact they serve in all IPD (Israeli Police Department) branches, during my years on the force many Israeli Arabs , both Muslim and Christians served under my command, while attending courses in the police academy I was lectured by Arab Captains Superintendents and Chief Superintendents. As an example .... then Captain Nabil Issawi lectured on traffic, he is still on the force, youll find his name some 10 lines down, Chief Superintendent Nabil Issawi of the Northern District traffic police, http://www.haaretz.co.il/hasite/objects/pages/PrintArticle.jhtml?itemNo=829710 ,

Israel has never legally denied any citizen any job. Since 1948. Meaning, that Arabs could work as cops. The question is not if they are allowed to join, because they are Arab; rather, the question is if they want to join. Many Arabs are Israeli cops, especially in the areas which are heavily populated by the Arabs. There are Arab majority towns, and I'll give you a guess who the local cops are. Arabs have never been forbidden jobs. Now, they are unlikely to get some jobs, like Prime Minister's position, but that's hardly a surprise. As long as they had Israeli papers, they were citizens, which equivalent rights to any other Israeli, Jew or Arab.
4 :
israeli arabs can hold any job they'd like. there are judges, members of the knesset, ministers, cops, soldiers (though they are not forced to join the army), engineers - any job.
5 :
Sure as long as they roll over when ordered to.
6 :
i know 2 of my fellow christian arabs who are in IDF.
7 :
There are plenty of Arab (by the way, do you mean Muslim or Christian or both?) in the police force, and not just in their own towns. There are many Arab (both Christian and Muslim) judges, and one of them handed down a relatively long sentence to our rapist former president, Mr. Katzav. Lots of Jews didn't like that. I don't think there are many jobs that are officially banned to ARabs of either religion (maybe defense related jobs), but sometimes the antidiscrimination laws don't work very well, KWIM?

Yes they can. The only limitation for the Israeli arabs is the military service. They are not drafted. And you made some mistakes. Those who wanted to stay were not some Palestinians, they were Arabs. Until 1967, the word "Palestinian " was a synonym of the word "Jew", and to call an Arab a "Palestinian" meant to insult him . Also the number of these Arabs who got the Israeli citizenship was not " a million" in 1948; it was 180,000. In 65 years under the "cruel and apartheid Israeli rule" they became 1, 2 million people.

How do committees in Israel work
How do committees in Israel work?
Do the standing Israeli committees have the power to amend legislation before it is passed? Do they have permanent staff? Is the work actually done by the Knesset committees or by the cabinets? These are all things which when answered can show how important committees are in Israeli government. If you answer, please leave a link for me to follow. Thank you!

The Knesset (Hebrew: ×›× ×¡×ªâ€Ž, lit. Assembly) is Israel's unicameral parliament. Its 120 members are elected to 4-year terms through party-list proportional representation (see electoral system, below), as mandated by the 1958 Basic Law: The Knesset. As the legislative branch of the Israeli government, the Knesset enacts laws, supervises government activities, and is empowered to elect or remove the President of the State or State Comptroller from office. The March 2006 elections produced five prominent political parties; Kadima, Labor, Shas, Likud and Israel Beytenu, each with more than ten seats in the Knesset. However, only once has a single party held the 61 seats needed for a majority government (the Alignment from 1968 until the 1969 elections). Therefore, aside from that one exception, since 1948 Israeli governments have always comprised coalitions. As of 2006, there are 12 political parties represented in the Knesset, spanning both the political and religious spectra.

To answer you, a non Jew can Acquire Israeli Nationality by Naturalization Adults may acquire Israeli citizenship by naturalization at the discretion of the Minister of the Interior and subject to a number of requirements, such as: they must have resided in Israel for three years out of five years preceding the day of submission of the application; they are entitled to reside in Israel permanently and have settled or intended to settle in Israel; they have renounced their prior nationality, or have proved that they will cease to be foreign nationals upon becoming Israeli citizens. The Minister of the Interior may exempt an applicant from some of these requirements. http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/MFAArchive/200…

Will my non-simlocked mobile from Germany work in Israel if I buy an Israeli SIM
Will my non-simlocked mobile from Germany work in Israel if I buy an Israeli SIM?
The phone is about 3 years old but has served me well on every trip through Europe by purchasing a SIM in that country. Also, it has a standard Euro plug, will that also work in Israel?

Of course.

I don't see any problem in your plan; though, I don't have any practical experience in that area. For the Euro plug, though, you will probably need an adapter.
