Sex slavery rife in Israel For the last four years, between 3,000 and 5,000 women have been sold as sex slaves for 8,000 to 10,000 dollars and forced to work up to 18 hours a day, said the head of the inquiry, Zehava Gal-On, of the left-wing opposition Yahad party. http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-1462_1681087,00.html

A lot of higher income areas in that part of the world have an astronomical human traffic problem including Dubai, Kuwait, and Qatar, as well as the rest of the world. While law enforcement wants to combat the problem, it's like the whole drug war, it is just too well funded. People always say focus on the kidnapper/pimp or drug dealer - but I say go after the customer. They'll be less armed and funded to defend themselves in court. If someone goes to a prostitute or uses drugs, take everything they own and use the proceeds to fight the higher ups and protect the victims.

Why wouldn't it? The Old Testament specifically authorizes Fathers to sell their daughters as sex slaves, it even give the commerce regulations for doing it. Christianity and Islam have been doing the same since their inception, why do you act as if, all of a sudden, this has just now become a problem? Slavery, even if called by other names for PR reasons, is common world wide and very little, if any, meaningful attempts are being made to stop it anywhere, such a trade is, as it always has been, simply too profitable. Slavery is like drugs, supply and demand. Demand means money to be made, money to be made means people will do what it takes to make it. We learned very painfully with U.S. Prohibition in the '20s, making something that vast numbers of people want illegal just makes organized crime bosses wealthy supplying it. When alcohol was legalized the Government banned then legal drugs like marijuana so the Prohibition cops and bootleggers could both keep their jobs. Now we've got Cocaine Dealers on the Forbes List. Prostitution is no different, when people want to buy sex and God says it's okay to sell women to them for that purpose you have to expect a thriving market. That's Economics 101.
