Why does Israel?
Why do they keep violating lebanese airspace ? Do they not have trust in the UN after all what they had to go thru to send their people to a troubled land? Shouldn't israel work side by side with the UN to help build a safer border and a less hatred atmosphere? Who in their right mind would tolerate their airspace and their sovereignty violated and not create a bad blood and hatred? One israeli soldier is the cause of humiliation? What about the thousands of innocent palestinians and lebanese in israeli prisons? And i said innocent, because they have not been judged other wise, where i come from, you are innocent until proven guilty. Please remember that there is a resolutuin that was passed and all parties agreed on it, including crossing over. So why do i keep hearing this going back as to who is going to protect us and et al? Why sign the resolution on the first place and go back act like it was never there? just does not make sense, regardless of how political it is. IMHO. Moneymaker, u know very well that israel will never be destroyed regardless of how many angry and hatred words are thrown atthem, r u kidding me? They are militarily as strong as a super power >>> Getreal people >> :-) I agree with Kate, no one is respecting the resolution or to what they agreed on. But i am looking at a glass half full and not half empty, israelis have to show the world that they respect resolutions and that the weight is on the lebanese and the terrorist groups they support. Yes hezbola needs to disarm if lebanon is ever going to see peace and stability, israel should have finished the job back then when it was on. But u gotta give peace a chance step by step. Dam if you do and dam if you don't, whenever one disagrees with them they are labeled anti semitic, unbeleivable. The lates today,A UN human rights envoy has compared Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories to elements of apartheid. Read mor here >> http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6390755.stm

In case you have forgotten, Hezbollahh, in Lebanon, captured an Israeli soldier and hasn't given him back. Hezbolla has free reign in Lebanon and is allowed to do what they want. Why should Israel sit back and allow their soldiers to be captured and held without retaliating in some way? Why isn't the UN demanding that Hezbollah return the Israeli captive?
2 :
Because if Israel sat back to let the UN deal with things, Israel would be wiped off the map. Edit: Wow...Kate, you are amazingly uneducated. Where di you read that the Jews killed Jesus? In the bible? Try looking for a little more accurate source before spouting such anti-semetic crap. Jews have no problem with Christians unless said Christian(s) are shoving their pro-Christian anti-Jew crap down our throats.....that gets a little old....
3 :
Work side by side?, i think there is little that the UN can do. Besides that is why the US went to war in the first place!, because they said that they had to take care of their own business and that the UN couldn't help them do it. So why should Israel sit back and wait for help?...if it was your country under all that political pressure you probably wouldn't want to wait for somebody else to come and fix it for you :)
4 :
Milo, there are no innocent Lebanese or Palestinians in Israeli prisons. Every one of them has been convicted by law. UN is anti-Israel. Less hatred? The less tough Israel becomes the more hatred there is for Israel. Overall Milo, you only see one side of the coin my friend. Not to say that Israel is right at everything they do, they are not. But out of the two sides, Israel's actions are more justified. If Israel is destroyed - there will be no Christians in the Mideast either. Believe that. Edit: Good one Kate... They are the ones who killed Jesus... That is one solid argument... I can't even argue that one. Seriously now, what are you saying? Can you name a single incident when Israelis destroyed a church? Or maybe murdered a Christian for being Christian? You know how many of those incidents happened in your country (not involving Jews as murderers, but another very popular religious group) in the 70s and 80s? And who helped the Christians then? And do you know what happened to on of your Prime Ministers when he was about to sign a peace agreement with Israel? I don't know if you are full of it, or maybe you honestly think you are telling the truth... Whatever it is, get that hatred out of your heart, it poisons your sole. Edit: Milo, Milo... How little you know of UN's true nature... I do agree with you that Israel should have finished the job with Hezbos, and the fact that it didn't, shows you how weak it's ideals are, and how easily the Israeli Gov. goes back on it's word. Israel might be strong militarily, but has a weak-minded and corrupt Government representatives, who constantly betray Israeli citizens. On top of that, every single country surrounding it wants it destroyed. Israelis have tried everything to cool down the hatred towards them, but it is clear (I repeat) the more they try, the more hatred there is. Edit: Bubba, Why isn't the UN demanding that Hezbollah return the Israeli captive? Easy! Because those soldiers are Jews, and it is OK for UN to ignore. Edit: Kate, if you "don't hate Jews" and "they are people, just like us" than why did you bring up the Jesus issue? Just seems very hateful AND ignorant to me. As far as Ain Ebel goes - I don't know what took place there, and cannot comment on that. If what you are saying is, in fact, true, than I feel the same way you do. In fact I despise Ehud Barak, who pulled the troops out of Lebanon in 2000, for "the sake of peace". I especially despise him for betraying the Christians of the Lebanon, who were our only true allies. Israel ain't perfect. It made plenty of mistakes, and it will make even more mistakes in the future. It has the least comfortable position in the region, everyone wants it gone. So, it is nervous! Wouldn’t you be? And when someone is nervous, they sometimes make wrong moves. Which, of course, doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be criticized… But even it's current corrupt government is not as evil and as heartless as anyone of it's bordering governments (maybe except yours, but yours has other problems). I am going way too far with this :)……. P.S. Why? Why would you bring up the Jesus issue? And how can you think (or just say) that Jews don't want Christians in the mideast? What in the world gave you that idea?(besides Jesus' situation) Edit: mlaheji, yes it is justified. That way it will never happen again. And I bet you wouldn't be saying that crap if those soldiers were your brothers. Or would you? Edit: PALESTINIANH HO said everything loud and clear. Jews are ignorant and that is why she has hatred for them. Perfect sense!

In my opinion UN is not doing its job, cuz countries do not respect their resolutions...for instance the resolution 1701 which states that Hezbollah should be disarmed is not respected and no one cares...so why should Israel respect them and not violate the Lebanese airspace. To Moneymaker, do you honestly believe that Israel wants the Christians in the Middle East...they are the ones who killed Jesus remember?...they definatly don't want the Christians in the region, they'd rather sign a pact with the devil or better yet with Hezbollah than to keep Christians in the region Edit Moneymaker....there's a small Christian village on the border with Israel called Ain Ebel...The people in this village are all Christian Maronites...they used to work in Israel when the Israelis were occupying the South of Litani...their kids went to Israeli schools...etc...and then one day the Israelis pulled out of there and Hezbollah claimed they liberated the South and the people of Ain Ebel were said to be traitors, some fled to Israel with their families, some are in prisons soemwhere...etc...then in the July war...the Isrealis bombed Ain Ebel and destroyed it while they know well there are no Hezbollah there. Furthermore they bombed highways in Christian areas and killed Christians in the war against Hezbollah this summer. I might be stupid like you said...but this is what I know...FYI I don't hate Israel, I just don't agree with its government, but the people are the same as us, they are good people who want a chance at piece like we do.
6 :
Did you know that Israel is less than 300 miles long and only 80 miles wide at its widest point/ And did you know that half of that is desert? Yet all we hear all the time is "Naughty big bad Israel". Do you have any idea how big the Arab countries are? Take a look at a map.
7 :
the war started because Hezbollah captured 2 Israeli soldiers.... the UN made Israel stop the war and said that they would be the ones to find the kidnapped soldiers.... well where are they its almost 6 months since the war was over and the UN hadn't done anything to find the soldiers.... Israel has a responsibility to its people and until the UN actually will do something instead of talk Israel will have to try and find those soldiers on their on
8 :
Hezbollah provoked Israel by kidnapping the 2 Israeli soilders, then used that as a means to justify their war against Israeli's innocent civilians by launching deadly rockets...people are forgetting that the kidnapping was the tip of the iceberg...as with the last war with Lebannon, Israel discovered Hezbollah had been building it's terror regime (with the help of Syria and Iran) and if let unfettered would spell disaster for Israel. Israel could not just stand by and let the UN do nothing about it, as they usual do...I'm so sick and tired of people critizing Israel for defending it's own citizens when no one else besides the US is willing to defend her...if terroists were launching rockets that killed hundreds of Americans, would we sit back and do nothing about it? Of course not, and neither should Israel- all those who critizise Israel should go to hell. Pick up a history book and read about the history -- Israel has learned from the past that pacism spells disaster, and the only way to survive is to get rid of the terroists BEFORE they strike
9 :
Israeli leaders live on wars they hate peace. Israel is occupying Lebanese land and the Lebanese want their land back.
10 :
Is it justified for Israel to go to war for a couple of soldiers who were kidnapped doing their duty? They were soldiers, it happens.

Mmmh...lets see. Israel state was officially recognised by UN in 1948. Now, the day that was accepted, Israel got attacked from everywhere...and wow...that sucks but they won, and expanded. Then, the surrounding arabs countries thought that sucked big time so all of a sudden they wanted it back to as it was before! So, Israel kinda said...ok...lets try to get a peace deal...but no, that still doesnt work. As another person said, how can you blame all the trouble in that region on a tiny little place as Israel, completely surrounded by gigantic other arab countries. And, no Israel isnt full of money (ppl still stick the label Jew = Rich) and even if it does have weapons it isnt voicing and yelling around that they will destroy another country...just because they feel like it. Lets see something else, when Pakistan was officially declared, India didnt exactly have much to say anymore. And Pakistany rebels still bomb India once in a while. Gee...Kosovo has been declared independant as well...Not much Serbs can do about it. Oh but Israel...all the news is on it, big bad Israel. about airspace, Israel is allowed to fly above Lebanon, UN allowed it after the recent attacks. Bad blood and hatred...havent you seen propaganda in Palestine taught to 5 years old children on how to old a gun and kill the Bad Jew! How do you want to have peace when you brain wash your own kids? How do you want to have peace when suicide bombers are seen as more than Saints? You dont get to see Israeli kids brought up like this. Who is trying to have peace and who isnt? As another person said again, it seems like most ppl have forgotten all the Christians and Catholics who got killed in Lebanon not that long ago. One of the MAJOR reason why the French did NOT want to send troups to Lebanon in the 1st place. For an incident which happened more than 60 years ago, in which "supposed" lebanese civilians bombed a building with a few hundred french soldiers inside. Now, I'm sure those "civilian" lebanese were innocent as well.

Israel should TRUST the UN????? What in the world makes you say such a thing? The UN treats Israel with such contempt that I am surprised other peace loving nations haven't called for the disbanding of the UN all together! And you say that Israel should "give peace a chance", Incredible! Israel has given peace a chance to the tune of how many dead Israels? Check your facts and don't follow the world of Political Correctness into the pit of ignorance. Kate, the Romans killed Jesus. Actually your sins and mine killed Him. He did come here to die. Don't make yourself look worse by saying the the Jewish people killed Him. As for the idea that Israel is "violating lebanese airspace".....Israel cannot "violate" lebanese anything because the land called Lebanon was given to Israel by GOD ALMIGHTY. Why do the Arabs violate Israel???? Davay, you are just WRONG and thats all there is to it.

I totally agree. I mean come on one soldier look at what you guys are doing. Jews are really ignorant people and I'm not just saying this because I'm Palestinian!! They've been fighting with Palestine forever and just can't get it through their head PALESTINE IS NOT THEIRS!!! Especially in America woo they are Bush lovers!!! O and they is all mad because OF TWO SOLDIERS NOW look how many Palestinians are dead and they can't get their lives back. I have a hatred for those ignorant disgusting big nosed people
14 :
What I say is very simple , thanks to Israel the world is envolved in world war III , starting sept 11 . Too much power concentrate in a very small country ( illegally occuped ) , and don´t even try to discrept about the holocaust official version ( 6 million people died etc etc) you directly can go to prison , from USA to Europe , well when you got the money it seems you´re always rite!! and jewish remain the power and the money since the beginnings of times , so they have the right to do all they want.
15 :
Israel is flying reconassance missions over Lebanon to gather neccessary intelligence. No, Israel cannot trust that UNIFIL and/or the lebanese army will fully prevent the re-armament of Hizbullah. The fact of the matter is that Hizbullah is still re-arming despite any attempts to stop them. UNIFIL is a collection of persons fighting someone else's battles; how far can you really trust them to go? How much would you risk for people you didn't know or really care that much about either way? On top of that, Nasrallah is one of the most popular figures in the arab world today (as is Ahmadinejad), so once again, how much can you really trust the lebanese army? Enough to not go to war? probably. Enough to believe that they wouldn't let some smugglers slip through? unlikely.

Palestine/Israel.Will this work
Palestine/Israel.Will this work?
WASHINGTON (AFP) – Former US president Jimmy Carter said Sunday Palestinian leaders were "seriously considering" a one-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, following a visit to the Middle East. "A majority of the Palestinian leaders with whom we met are seriously considering acceptance of one state, between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea," Carter wrote in an op-ed piece in The Washington Post. "By renouncing the dream of an independent Palestine, they would become fellow citizens with their Jewish neighbors and then demand equal rights within a democracy," he explained. "In this non-violent civil rights struggle, their examples would be Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela." Carter noted that in doing so, Palestinian leaders were taking into consideration current demographic trends. He said non-Jews were already a slight majority of total citizens in this area, "and within a few years Arabs will constitute a clear majority." Carter added that a two-state solution for the conflict was "clearly preferable" and had been embraced at the grass root level but that a one-state solution was "a more likely alternative to the present debacle." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ okay. They can be smart about it on both sides. It is likely to work. Except the Palestinians have to be patient and foward thinking. In time, they will be a huge majority. They will have a cohesive government. They can learn from Israel how to build bombs and capture dissidents and perhaps companion with big countries like Russia and learn how to fight foreign and other enemies. Yes it will work. it will work, yes (thoughts made with sarcasm)

Maybe, but I doubt it. I think that only a two-state solution will work.

Then instead of about 20 years, the Jews will be a MINORITY, probably within 5 years-Then the Arabs can just vote the murderous Jewish terrorist group Likud(oops, Irgun before being elected) out of office without a war-good joke- the Jews would become even more Nazi like. NOT FEASIBLE. The Jewish population would again attack the Arabs, killing them and stealing their land. Israel can not remain democratic if the Arab population replaces them by faster growth rate. That is why Israel bulldozes palestinian homes and steal the land for Jewish only homes and refuse Palestinians the "RIGHT of return"-Israel, being the ONLY country on earth to do this-the Germans and Arabs have allowed Jews the "Right of return".

Why does Israel want to establish new Jewish settlements in Palestine
Why does Israel want to establish new Jewish settlements in Palestine?
Israel needs to work with U.S. to reach peace; however, their decision concerning the Jewish establishments makes it seem like they do not want peace at all, so sabotaging peace negotiations. If Israel indeed wants peace with Palestinians, why did they do this in the most crucial period of the talks? I do not know what you mean by saying all the lands there belong to Israel, but according to UN resolutions, they are Palestinian lands that Israel illegally occupies. There were many calls from UN to Israel to withdraw, but leave the withdrawal aside, they apparently chose to build new settlement which makes the peace talks to come to a halt.

first of all, there is no country called paelstine. there is a country called israel which was reestablished on a region which the romans called palestine when they took it from the jews. second, what you call "new settlements" are really more like the expanding of extant cities. would you tell the city of philadelphia that it can't put up a new apartment complex on the outskirts? Would you tell any other country that it can't continue to provide housing for its citizens? I think not.

First of all most of these Jew folks dont know how to read or write. Second, just like that famous Brit said, Sir Edmund Percival Hillary (he used to be a mountain climber), when he was asked why he climbed all the way to the top of the Himalayas (or was it mt. Everest?) ; "for two reasons: because it was there and because it was free" Steel Sherpa
4 :
Since there is no one to stop them why shouldn't they? Any country in the world would do exactly the same thing if given the opportunity. Trading land for peace is only a viable alternative when dealing with sovereign nations who can really back up their agreements and not with the Palestinians who are ruled by the mob.
5 :
Israel doesn't want to establish settlements in Palestine. Israel wants to establish communities in its biblical heartland, the areas most frequently and importantly mentioned in the Jewish Bible (Torah), with the most historical and cultural association to the Jewish people throughout time. Unfortunately, several actors have turned the Palestinians into pawns for their purposes (you may be surprised by some of them): 1. The Arab world. Has always disliked a Jewish presence in the Middle East, seeing it as a threat to their total domination of the area and conquering of the region for Islam. If you study even the most basic tenets of Islam, you will learn that a source of great pride for Islam is to conquer new lands on its behalf, and certainly to maintain sovereignty where it can. Anything else is a shame and threat to the Umma. 2. America. This one is probably the biggest surprise. But the United States is the 2nd largest global purveyor of military products in the world - after Russia. The United States is producing less and less in-country, and relying much more on imports as the culture has increasingly catered to consumers. So America's military industry is one of (if not) the biggest contributors to the American economy. AMERICA HAS AN INTEREST IN MAINTAINING LOW-LEVEL WARFARE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Playing both sides off of each other constantly, America can continue to sell weapons to all parties, bolstering the American economy. Sick, I know. 3. Europe. Europe has a historic and now a modern heritage. Of old, Europe (including Britian) was a generally anti-Semitic place (exhibit A: World War II), and that general outlook has not changed. Political correctness has forced a reframing of the issue - it is not at all OK to be anti-Jewish. However, it IS ok to be anti-Israel! So it's a convenient outlet. In recent years, however, there has been a drastic increase in the influx of Muslim residents and new citizens into most European countries (especially England and France). They have further pressed politics against Israel. In the meantime, Israel is the size of New Jersey. The rest of the Arab world takes up 1/10th of the world's land mass. You tell me who is being overly greedy on the issue of land. If the Arab world would only absorb the Palestinians, everyone would move on. However, they refuse to do so, creating a situation in which the only solution is a showdown.
6 :
Because if they withdraw from the west bank, they'd be admitting that their occupation was illegal. If you look back a few decades earlier, you'll see that they settled what is now Israel illegally as well. If they give up their claim to the west bank, they have to give up their claim to Israel itself. For some reason they think they need to have a Jewish state. These European Jews don't play nice with others, i guess.
7 :
Actually, a more prudent question would be is why are the Palestinians making pre-conditions for negotiations by focusing on the expansion of already existing settlements or building a new neighbourhood in a Jerusalem suburb when it does not displace a single Arab resident? After all, one of the purposes of negotiations is to resolve such issues, including what to do with the settlements.
8 :
I would not bother to answer the stupidities you put in your question; after all, if a man knows nothing about the conflict, which is your case, but tries to make judgements, all the reasons and arguments would we a waste of time because this man has already formed his opinion. What interested me was your phrase in the Additional Details that "according to UN resolutions, they are Palestinian lands that Israel illegally occupies". There is a saying: to talk is easier than to work. Try to work, for a change, and find me a couple of the UN Security Council resolutions which would say exactly this, i.e. that Israel is "illegally occupying palestinian lands". Maybe this will make you start thinking instead of repeating like a parrot something you heard from your teacher or read in some local newspaper in an article written by someone who knows about the situation only a bit more than you. And if it does not make you start thinking...Well, after all there are millions of ignorants in this world. One more changes nothing.

The intent of the Zionist leaders in Europe, & beyond, was never to truly allow non-Jewish Arabs to remain in their land of origin. Do research into Zionism. You will find, even in the sites that promote the theme of Zionism, extreme racism against the Arabs who lived in and around the "Holy Land". http://www.marxists.de/middleast/schoenman/ch02.htm This is only one of countless sources of historical information having to do with Israel. If you read the pro-Jewish-Israel sites only, you get an incomplete & warped view of what has really been going on in the Middle East over the last two centuries. Innumerable innocent Jews have been CONNED in Europe & the rest of the world, into believing in this Nationalistic fervor; that Jews (a separate/exclusionary group from the rest of the human race) need & deserve a home of their own; a home where only JEWS live & control what is there. Zionist leaders want to eventually CONTROL every part of the Middle East!!!! They even plan on once again gaining CONTROL over Iran, Venezuela, & every possible oil reserve that exists anywhere on the planet!!! Jews are one of the strongest TOOLS for the Elitist Bankers, Royalty, the Fortune 500, etc., to use in upholding their MILITARY OWNERSHIP OF THE PLANT EARTH!!!!!! If you are not a SUPER WEALTHY JEW, then Zionist leaders have absolutely no concern or interest in your health, happiness, or even your LIFE!!!!!!! Does anybody with a mind really think that these Elite INCARNATIONS OF SATAN, care for one second about working class Arabs? Working class Jews are also irrelevant to those scumbags at the top of the world of "MONEY"!!!
